Took out the Cervelo S1 for a test ride. What can I say... but WOW!!! I'm not 100% sold on this bike, but it was a dream to ride. Maybe a little "buzzy"... as I've heard, but that could be minor adjustments... I don't know at this point. The shifting was VERY crisp... much nicer then my 105 (it is an Ultegra build), and the aero tubing is the cat's meow. I rode it around the township and got a good cross section of the winds (even tho' it's not that windy today), but no where did I feel like the wind was affecting me adversely. With my bike I would have felt the wind pushing the bike sideways a couple times.
I did push hard up some hills... and it responded like a race horse spurred on. Every ounce of power went to the road. The gearing is a little low... it's a compact crank... but I was able to keep things spinning quite well.
As you can see... my HR was pretty low for that speed. On my normal bike, I would probably average above 120 for that speed and distance. I wish I had the money to buy this beauty. :(
On a down note.... as I was coming into Baden.... I was approaching the RR crossing from the North on Sandhills road and was passed VERY wide by a bus, as well as the pick-up truck pulling a trailer after the bus. HOWEVER, the moron in the Chrysler 300, Champagne Beige, license plate #BAXK 748, was another story. He basically didn't give me ANY room (less then a foot), then had to slam on the brakes to stop because the bus stopped at the RR Level crossing. As I came up to him and yelled at him, his response was... .GET OFF THE ROAD A$$HOLE!... that just got me steamed. I am going to write a letter to the Regional Police complaining about this incident. There was No need for this... he was going to have to slow down/ stop anyway... he should never have passed. 200m passed the RR crossing is another stop sign... where I came up behind him again... his response to me was... "Get a real vehicle". It's dipshits like this that give drivers a bad name. .... I'm still steamin'.
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Evening update...
I was hoping to get a swim in today... unfortunately Sweetums was working an afternoon shift and I had to play taxi dad. #1 son was working tonight, and I had to wait until he called to be picked up. Unfortunately, he worked until 9:15... and the pool closes at 9:30. He said from now on the kitchen is open until 10:30.... so he'll be working later... but I should be able to get a swim in before I have to pick him up.

Happy mother's day to ALL you wonderful mom's. The examples you set for your children and family by pursuing an active lifestyle is worth a 1000 days of rest, however I know that each and every one of you will probably do something active today and this is good. May your breakfast in bed, brunches, lunches and suppers be more then you could ever desire and be more delicious then any 5 Star restaurant could ever serve.
Stay well, be happy, and keep on being the inspirations that you are, to your family, your friends and to all of us here on BT.
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!
Yes, today I treated Sweetums to breakfast in bed (eggs, toast, fresh fruit, juice, coffee, muffin, cheese). Nothing too elaborate, but all things she likes. This afternoon we may head out to see the new Star Trek movie (yes, it's her choice).... then home for supper of BBQ steak and risotto I think. I know I spoil her... but she's worth EVER penny and ounce of effort. Happy Mother's Day Sweetheart... I love you!

Bike to the start of race and bike home again.
OUCH.
Local fitness club had a contest. Ride spin bike for 3 minutes and see what distance you can get. First prize is a free 3 month membership. I was the first person to try it... and I didn't have my spin shoes, just my trainers. Tried to tighten the traps, but didn't work so well. I started out at reasonable pace... spinning at 100rpm or so (+30km/h)... then ramped up at 1 min... ramped up again at 2 min... and went full out for last 30 seconds. I think I layed down an unbeatable time... but we shall see. :)
RR is up... click link below. I did this community race as a long training run... but tried to keep up a steady pace without blowing up. Was a good run. Legs feel tired now tho'. Went grocery shopping with Sweetums afterwards... that's always fun, spending time with her.
Best comment of the day.... the timer for the spin cycle TT tells me "Go!"... and I start spinning. His next words: "He did explain to you that it is 3 minutes, right?"
I think he was worried that I was going to burn out WELL before the 3 minutes were up. I think maybe I impressed them by the end.

Friday's are a little busy at work, since I'm the only programmer in. However, it's not that busy right now because 95% of the plant is closed.... no production today... due to continued soft conditions, production has been given another LONG weekend. Thank goodness for Workshare or these people would be in serious financial condition right now. :(

Nothing going on today with biking... there was a threat of t'storms, so I decided to give the legs a rest. I think they needed the rest. Was feeling pretty wiped last night... and didn't sleep well. :(

One of these days, I will leave for work earlier. Had to push again today. Beautiful morning tho'... gorgeous sunrise, blue sky, and very little wind. Temp was a little nippy, but I was working hard so didn't notice that much after the first 5 minutes. I think it was +5*C, NE wind of 5-10km/h... a little bit of a headwind, but nothing serious.
Had to get some money at the ATM. First I had to change the flat tire.... stoopid rough roads... changed it in record time, got my money and picked up my lunch (Subway... yummy). Made it back to the office in plenty of time (1/2hr lunch sucks).
Interesting... I decided that I've been doing some pretty hard riding... so I'd take it easy going home. Granted, I had a tailwind tonight on the way home... about a 15km/h breeze. Nothing strong, and not always helping... was a cross wind for most of the ride.
I kept it in the SCR and tried to spin easy. Funny thing is... I was maintaining over 35 km/h on the flats... and on the last long climb, I was around 30km/h the whole way up. What a great ride. :)
I was debating this morning whether to go to work or sulk in bed, I've got a cold. Sore throat, sinus issues, and generally feeling blah. However, I decided that I needed to HTFU and get into work. I always feel fine on the bike, although the breathing was a little more laboured today, I just kept plugging along. I probably should get more sleep... but Sweetums is working nights, and that's not going to happen until she's in bed with me. :(

I'm guessing at the time... no computer on the Cervelo... and I forgot my HRM, so it's a complete guess. I still hear a rattle on the frame somewhere... and the front derailleur isn't adjusted perfectly. The wheels are great, solid feeling and smooth rolling. BB is beautiful... no wasted effort. Shifting is percise. I could love this bike. :) :o
Quick ride home... had to be home by 6 to take #3 son to B'ball. I left work 15 min early and gave it all I had. I think I could have gone harder... but just didn't have the pop in my legs like I might have on an easier day.
Bike goes back tomorrow... so that's the last ride. I think I'd like to test ride the S2 (carbon fibre) to see and feel the difference. I'm not sure I'd buy one tho... I'm a pretty strong lad, and I don't want to break it. ;)
A quick little run around the neighbourhood where #3 son was playing B'ball. I didn't want to run too much... it's very hilly there and my legs were already pretty tired. Felt good to get a run in tho.
