I went to the chiropractor. He is a delightful Frenchman (how often do you see those two words together?!). He yelled at me.

Patrick: You did WHAT?!
Me: Mumblemumblemumble5Kswimmumble.
Patrick: Grumble grumble ...

Pause.

Patrick: Don't tell me you did the triathlon too.
Me: MumblemumblemumbleOkay I won't then.
Patrick: [heaves big sigh] Well. That was ...

Pause.

Me: ... stupid?
Patrick: You said it, not me.

I will say that after adjustment, massage and a 20-minute love session with their TENS unit at full throttle ... I walked out HIGH. No, not just feeling happy and better and high on life ... full-on HIGH. I had to sit down and eat breakfast before I moved on, and the feeling lasted a good 15-20 minutes.

Anyway. I really don't feel that well today, either physically structurally or energetically, and I have this stupid nagging fever and a bit of a sore throat that have been hanging on, so I decided to lie low today and just go for a walk at dusk.

You know, I just can't go anywhere without running into trouble! After eating the sweetest, most delicious fresh-roasted corn I bought from a guy with a grill on a motorcycle, some asshole was peeling down our street in a car at high speed, swerving around, nearly hitting Phoebe and a two-year-old girl. We have a traditional family neighborhood ... folks go strolling with their kids after work, kids are puttering around on scooters and bicycles, guys are selling hot and sweet snacks from carts, dogs are mulling around begging for scraps. You can't fucking go zooming down the street in a car. So I was screaming SLOW THE FUCK DOWN YOU [insert choice and original expletives] from the side of the road. To my shock, the passenger window comes down and a lady is yelling both YANTI!!! and also at the driver to STOP!!! He slows down and she pops open the door and tumbles out ...

and rushes into my arms, holding on to me tight and trying to get away from the car.

Ah yes ... it's my neighbor with the crazy drunk husband (who is, as usual, drunk) and barreling down the street full of children with HIS OWN INFANT and wife in the backseat ... awesome.

How do I always get in the middle of this shit?!

What? This IS pulling back!

It's been a worms-crawling-out-of-Biscuits-the-Cat's-ass kind of a day.

Tomorrow will be a Biscuits-crapping-dead-worms kind of a day.

I have so much to look forward to!

Okay. OKAY! No really, ^^^^^ those are recovery workouts ... yes, last week was a bit much and I'm not feeling great, so really I'm not pushing myself and I am pulling back this week.

Indeed, (relative) silence in my blog means ... well, for those of you who have kids, it means the same thing as silence in the house. RUT ROH ...

Laying on the volume is really affecting my joints. (FYI I have osteoarthritis as a lasting effect from one of the nasty tropical viruses). What's bothering me the most right now is a cervical slipped disc from 2008 that tends to act up when I break down. Shooting nerve pain down the shoulder blade and arm, ARGH!

However, yoga (above many other things) seems to do wonders for managing it (along with some good NSAIDs), so I'm upping that; the movements take pressure off the joints as well as help strengthen the musculature and connective tissues to support them.

I will also see my chiro here ASAP. He's fantastic and incorporates outstanding PT in his practice.

Figured I'd just get on for 15min and if I was fine, I'd forge ahead. I was, so I did.

Test walk to see how I was feeling today and whether to do anything else.

The yoga is upper-spine and neck specific ... an old cervical slipped disc has been bothering me. Classic pain and irritation along the shoulder blade and nerve pain shooting down the arm. Will chiro up if the spinal extensions don't work.

Still a slight fever but feeling much better today. It's like something's just nagging at me that I can't shake.
