After stretching a good bit and eating a nana and clif bar I headed just up the road to the Rochester LTF to swim. The outdoor pools have water in them and will be opening Memorial weekend! :) I like swimming out there! Yay! I cramped up quite a bit during this swim in my feet and a little in my calves. My2nd,3rd, and last 500 times reflect the cramps. I was a bit off from my last tempo swim set pace, but between the cramps and the long run before hand, I'm ok with it. I was pretty consistant throughout the workout using my new longer stroke. I still am thinking a lot, but not as much as just a couple weeks ago. :) to less thinking!
I'm off to bed and putting on my compression tights. Should have worn the sexy socks today...that may have helped the ouchies. Instead, I'll roll and compress! :)

itb and core full
Rode on the trainer, sweat a ton, fielded 4 phone calls about the stupid computer that's not an easy fix after all. :( Hopefully I'll have my cpu up and running by next Tuesday when I get my replacement mother board. Grrrr.
Adjusted the seat down as prescribed by coach and it bothered the left knee in front, so that isn't the right fix for the outside of the right knee. :( On the brick run my peri and knees both bothered me. Never grabbing, just there and slightly annoying. Grrrr. The run felt great otherwise. Felt like I could go for a long long time. Good. Worked on keeping it at 9:30 pace and hr in zone 2 max. My hr is higher than when I was training for the half mary last fall, but I don't know why. Maybe because of the extra weight I'm carrying now? I'm 8-12 lbs from last fall depending on the day. Grrrr.
Wow...I'm growly today!
Picked up my better half from the airport tonight. YAY! Laughed at the story of him falling into the water at the marina when they turned in the boat! HA HA HA! Always and adventure when Dave and Monkvic hook up. Lets just say my suggestion of them picking up a drybag from REI for the iphone was a REALLY good idea. Yep, a REALLY good idea! :)

My computer last week and I finally called for repair after the hell of no printer last night. Thought it was gonna be a cheap fix, but no. He ended up taking the cpu with him and will be replacing the mother board. :( I don't care at this point...all my financials and oath stuff is on that thing and I need it fixed asap to get back up to speed.
I worked in the yard for a couple hours and made a decent dent in the weed population in my back beds. Gotta get that cleared for planting my annuals if they are gonna look good at the grad party...which I've barely started planning for. :(
Brian had a improvement on his long jump in a meet today, so we celebrated at Red Robin's for dinner. Yum. Big fat burger!
Then I was off to the lab, but without my cycling shoes. DOH! I was half way there when I had to turn around and fetch them. Trish = Late. Half way into the ride we got a great talk from Coach regarding nutrition, pace, and WHY we should be following his workouts...which I wasn't. Nor were many of my buddies....it was an active recovery spin for many of us, and like me, many were riding at endurance pace. The science nerd in Coach came out to educate us as to why we should be riding at ar and what it means come race day. Lots of good questions from folks riding, good stuff for sure.
I've been having some itb? knee issues on the bike and Coach recommended a seat height change. Gonna try that and see how it goes. Fingers Crosssed!
Then to the pool. Had a good swim and did better holding my form going about threshold for 100's. Fell apart on the last 100 when we were to go as fast as we could. Got a great tip from Domino (welcome home Domino!) about going fast and form. I'll try it next time I swim. Got to swim between the Scotts tonight! FUN, but those boys are getting faster than me...I've got work to do to keep up!

52 degrees in trout lake...brrrrrrrrr
I must love my bt peeps, cause why else would I have gotten up early on a Saturday morning to put myself in 52 degree water??? I must say though, that the hugs from Jen, KL, and Kim were totally worth it! :) Steve was a stud and rode his mtn bike from home to join us in the drink too. :) When we got to the lake and JD (who is prepping to swim the English Channel, and is a baller swimmer and coach) told us to swim the perimeter and that it was 52, and that she could not move her fingers (SHIT) we took her wise advice.
I had on the new garmin, so I have no idea what we really swam, but I loaded the data anyhow. I don't think we swam that far, but who knows? I tried to swim with my new "stroke" but really didn't for much of it. It was REALLY hard to focus, sight and not freeze all at the same time. I did pretty well for me on the focusing thing, did get some glide in there, officially broke in the wetsuit, but not sure how I like it. It's pretty tight on the sticks (the VPB technology really floats the legs which is nice) but it's not fitted in the arms very well cause I'm scrawny I guess. We shall see.
After warming up (a bit) and changing we headed out on the bikes, with frozen feet. I ended up wearing my northface jacket on the ride cause I didn't bring my bike jacket.
This workout was supposed to be a reverse tri with race pace effort which is really hard to do for me not actually in a race. Booo. It was supposed to be a 20k bike, but last nights tt was supposed to be a 40k so I switched um. My, I've forgotten the thrill of riding the hills at ILRA...can you sense my sarcasm? Ranger reminded me that the hills workout in the offseason too...they had a great winter I tell ya! It went ok the first lap, and the hills were definately more challenging (read slooooowwweeerrrrr) on lap two. Still, not horrible, but not spectacular either. (aide note...knee grumped a bit at the beginning, and lower back was grumpy off and on the whole ride...hills probably)
Food, more chatting, more changing and finally the 5k run I wanted to blow off. Didn't, and it was a pretty good run for me considering...I'm getting a wee bit better being pushy on the shorter runs. A tiny wee bit. I'll take that.
So in between all my changing, stretching and eating I got to say goodbye to all the groups that broke off after the swim. :) A great (if chilly) day at ILRA!

drilled and swam a bit with Smoak :)
wu 9 miles and 20ktt at stoney creek in high winds
Home, chores, track practice, dinner, out to Stoney at 6:30 to meet up with Fraser folks....Pam was the only road rider at 6:30 and was not doing tt work as she was running one in the lab in the morning. We rode one loop with the nature center then she peeled off (ruby had a slow leak and she'd already mtn biked before I got there) My knee and peri were PISSED. The knee grabbed HARD three times on the first 6 mile loop, but because this was supposed to be a 40k tt I just couldn't quit at one loop, so I went out for another figuring I'd do 40k at ILRA if the knee was ok. The wind was terrible. Accuweather sucks....cause it's not accurate. I checked at 4:30 and the forcast was 9mph winds at 7. At 6:30 when I got there the winds were 19mph. NICE!
I have a really hard time going race pace with no race. Mentally it is very tough for me and I don't know how to pace this stuff. Now I have the power tap, but what power should I be pushing for a 20k, or 40k or half im??? Ok..I know the half im pacing (sorta) but what about the rest? Meh. Weak...mentally weak.
Starting to get freaked about June 6. Three weeks from Sunday. Crap. Don't feel ready having only done one long ride this season and not having done any long runs since the mary. Next weeks training should help. :)

short loop at ILRA
Trout lake actual swim time...a little longer as I did the sea snake scenic version :)
zone 1 run at ILRA
Good swim at ILRA with the bt peeps! So good to see folks out tonight! Got a big hug from Flirt and got caught up on his season so far...that boy is gonna do great at Steelhead! :)
Biked a short loop with Ranger( saw 4 deer!) and eventually ran very slowly till night fell. I was the last sole in the park tonight. It was beautiful to run on the path so late in the evening. Gorgeous trees, and coming back through the pines smelled divine! Lots of critters out singin' their songs too. I ran Ipod free for the first time in a loooooonnnng time. Twas nice. Running through that little tunnel was creepy and cool on the way back...it was pitch black in there. :)
I had an errand to run after ILRA, and needed gas, so by the time I got home it was 10:50! Yikes! And I was in need of a shower and wide awake. And hungry. Don't think I'll be doing that 8:30 run again soon. Hee hee.
