  • Lots of volunteers to help?Yes
  • Plenty of drink stations?Yes

  • Post race activities? Below average
  • Overall course based on my ability: Just right

  • Comments: Food organization was poor... Volunteers(young girls, needed a little coaching) giving out the medals had to be hunted down to get one. (I heard this from more than one runner.) Hey!! when you finish you want them looking for you--not the other way around. t-shirts people were awesome!

  • Comments: I think they did a great job at this race. I don't have any other marathons to compare it to, but it was really well supported during the run. There are a lot of people out there, both participating and cheering. Plenty of volunteers and plenty of drink stations. The roads are mostly closed to traffic, and there is a well marked lane for runners on the few that aren't. They also allow mp3 players at this run. The finish line was more fun with a 5-hour finish than a 6 hour finish - there was more stuff, there were more people, and they hadn't run out of chocolate milk. The only disappointment was that the later finishers weren't supported as well at the finish line.

  • Comments: This is a GREAT event. I don't have anything to compare it to, as far as marathons go. But I very much enjoyed myself [almost] the entire time. Entertainment groups were at least every mile, the volunteers were super friendly, and people lined up outside their homes to give encouragement. Up until about 1 hour before the race, I wanted to back out. I had no desire to do a marathon and I didn't think it meant anything to me at all. When I started running, I knew that if I didn't finish that I would be devestated. Part way through the run, I realized that I had goals I didn't even know about. And as I crossed the finish line, I just about exploded, I was so happy. This non-runner just finished a marathon!!!

  • Comments: This wasn't my best day for sure. I did learn that I could keep going even when I thought I couldn't so that was a big positive. Big Thanks to the Med tent staff, especially Dr Karen, it took a lot of work on their part but they got me moving in time to catch my flight home. Thanks to my sis and favorite training partner too, you rocked and thanks for getting us through the airport just in time and for your encouragement. The good thing about this race is that it shouldn't be too hard to beat my time next year!
