  • Comments: Inexcusable that WTC ran out of water and ice. The day was hot and this was probably a BIG limiter for athletes out on the course. End site for the IRONMAN is about as good as it can get. The atmosphere was awesome and the steady trickle of athletes finishing made for a memorable night.

  • Comments: 4 Years ago I weighed about 250 pounds, could barely run 2 miles and was not active at all. I decided to do a sprint triathlon on '06 to get in shape and have some sort of athletic accomplishment, and it was awesome- I was hooked. I never thought I could or would ever do a full marathon, definetly not an ironman. Fast forward 3 years. I made some friends, got in shape, and saw got inspired watching my friends become Ironmen, and I knew that it could be done and signed up after cheering Courtney in Louisville. The training was hard, it was hot this summer and I took a lot of time away from my family, non tri friends, and was unemployed for much of it. I never lot focus on this goal and no matter what, this had to happen. I have a tendency to underacheive and this was my chance to do otherwise. I learned that setting goals and having the desire to do something is simply not enough. You have to commit and execute- even if it is inconvenient or uncomfortable at times. Nothing is insurmountable,

  • Comments: I would love to see this race get moved to the end of September and for the race director to provide water to all the athletes. Louisville is a great town and they come out and make this event worthwhile.

  • Comments: The overall event was fantastic and held on a great city. It is unfortunate that when I went through the last aid station on the bike they had no water available at that momement but I am sure they replenished afterwards. They also ran out of water at one of the run stations, can't remeber which one but they had it when I went by the second time. What a great place to have this venue and the people were so friendly. From LaGrange to Louisville and all the volunteers, Thank You! Thank You! without them this race would have been possible.

  • Comments: There were some issues with lack of water with some stations on bike and run. Volunteers did a great job improvising with what they had. Ice was an issue but given the heat I think more people were using water and ice than normal. I always got water one way or another!

  • Comments: I had a great experience with the race, the course, and the volunteers. However, it is troubling to learn that they ran out of water. I can't imagine being out on the bike course or trying to finish up the run w/o water. There is no excuse for the race directors to not be prepared for a hot and humid day.

  • Comments: The volunteers were great! I am undecided on when I will do another Ironman, but hopefully I can volunteer at one in the near future. I realize just how important the volunteers are!

  • Comments: Pros: Absolutely beautiful bike ourse. Couldn't make a better movie out of it. City of Louisville, LeGrange, and others are tremendously supportive. Great spectator support. Run course was not to hard and had moments of scenic views. Cons: Getting in line at 4 am sucks. And how is it a WTC event that is supposed to give you 17 hours cuts off at 12 regardless what time you get in the water. 1694 is dangerous, especially for folks that don't understand holding a line downhills and technical turns. CUT THAT PORTION OUT. The road should have been closed to traffic but a truck came down the middle of all of us during my downhill decent. Last 2 water stations on bike course, 96 degrees, 100 degree heat index, and you run out of water. Overall, yes, I rate it 7.5 out of 10. The volunteers were perfect. I stopped and needed vasolene rubbed under my arms since they were raw on the bike, a lady jumped right in and did it, love you whoever you were. Galt House was perfect location.

  • Comments: Overall, I really enjoyed Louisville and the race. I would race here again, but not in the heat. On a less-hot day, the problems listed below would not be as big a deal and Louisville was a fun town with good food. Here are my issues: (1) You don't get special needs bags back, (2) They ran out of water less than 6 hrs into the bike on a 96 degree day - really WTF!?!, (3) The last 2 aid stations were 20 miles apart, (4) There were no maps of the aid stations or the transition area, (5) Time-trial start encourages slow or nervous people to be first in line, causing ridiculous pile-ups on the swim.

  • Comments: Overall this was such an amazing experience. It is one I will never forget for as long as I live. With the exception of the water issue, I thought everything was awesome. In the pre race meeting, Mike Reilly mentioned that there were over 3,000 volunteers for this weekend. This race would not exist without them. I tried to thank every single one I saw that day. Also, the people of Louisville were incredible. What a great city. There were all different people everywhere during the entire race. There were people who lived in big mansion size houses to smaller mobile homes sitting out in front cheering and holding motivational signs for the entire race.

  • Comments: Great time trial swim start, awesome bike course. Head & humidity made the run difficult. Very well run event, Louisville is full of great people.

  • Comments: When I did Ironman Florida two years ago, I blazed through it and had an awesome time. That was a great thing and I was extremely happy. After 16 years of doing long races, I have never had a bad race and then recovered from it. When I go down the tubes, I usually stay down the tubes. I always finish, but it isn't always pretty. I learned more about myself on this race than all others combined. I saw that I have the ability to "come back" after things go wrong. I saw that I can push myself past some limits and mentally go on and in turn physically go on. Never give up. Never quit. Never....
