  • Organised?Yes
  • Events on time?Yes

  • Lots of volunteers to help?Yes
  • Plenty of drink stations?Yes

  • Post race activities? Good
  • Overall course based on my ability: Just right

  • Comments: Despite the swim freak-out, I still beat my last sprint distance by 2 minutes - even with a longer swim. I'm always happy to be moving in the right direction. My next sprint distance goal is to go sub-1:10. I know I can do it.

  • Comments: This is a fun race. The altitude can get you if you're not used to it. It seems most people feel it on the swim, I know I did. The course isn't bad and is usually in good shape. I knocked 16 minutes off of my time from last year, so I'm happy about that.

  • Comments: I like the Mtn Man event team. They do not have the numbers (volunteers) like the bigger races, but they do a great job with what they have. It is hard to keep crowd control with smaller numbers of volunteers, but they make do overall. They did an awesome job of directing traffic on the highway as well as pointing the athletes on to their next part of the course.

  • Overall course based on my ability: Too hard

  • Comments: Overall, I am pleased with my effort and times despite not being familiar or not having any high altitude training. The swim humbled me, but I think it was more of the climate that humbled me. Thinking that I could give the same level of effort from my races in phoenix and bring it to Flagstaff. Despite my mental breakdown on the run and panic on the swim, I had a lot of fun on this challenging race.

  • Comments: Overall not a bad first triathlon with less than 2 months of training, and less than a month on the bike. Now have a much better feel for the race distances, and preparation required
