  • Comments: Overall: I thought the race was a fast, fun course. Organized: It was run pretty well. The Saturday briefing/checkin was pretty unorganized. The briefings were packed and then flowed into packet pickup lines that weren't well marked and didn't have enough room for the lines. The expo seemed both packed and also lacking in vendors. I think the location of T1/T2 could be better thought out. Parking and getting to and from there was pretty difficult (though I don't have much to compare it to). Everything seemed to run on time. There seemed to be no officials on the bike course. This was both good and bad. There were lots of people drafting but also lots of packs of bikes clumping up and blocking people from passing b/c some riders would just hang out to the left and not pass even if they could. All the aid stations seemed to be run well. All the volunteers seemed to be doing a great job all over the course. I would recommend this race to others and will likely

  • Comments: There were too few aid stations on the run and by the time I was nearing the finish of my second loop they were already running out of gels and were closing some stations down. Um, I finished in just over 6 hours... there were a lot of people behind me. What in the world did they get at these aid stations??? Ice was needed. It's September, in Georgia... it's still pretty hot at 2PM!

  • Comments: Well organized. Lots of volunteers. The military volunteers were inspiring. I said "thanks" to many, and 100% responded "YES SIR" or "thank YOU sir", etc. Inspiring. I wrote the base commander to praise his troops.

  • Comments: It was a nice race. It thought it was a bit crowded for my taste, but I had a good time. I wish they had not removed the entry limit. It was good for me to make several mistakes with my HR monitor and watch. Hopefully, I will correct those errors at B2B.

  • Comments: I would rate it a "5" but the course was too crowded and the transition area strewn with rocks and debris. The City of Augusta was awesome in this race - what a great way to showcase a great town.

  • Comments: A couple more water stations on the run and having finish line photographers stay until the course closes would help. Other than that I thought it was AWESOME. If I ever do another HIM it will be this one.

  • Comments: Once we got to Augusta, events were very well organized...especially considering the start and finish lines were not by transition. Overall, I thought PEM did a very nice job...esp considering it was an inaugural race. I sure wish I could have started earlier than 9:07...maybe have bigger waves or less time between them?

  • Comments: GREAT EXPERIENCE WITH MY FIRST HIM, WOULD DEFINITELY DO THIS ONE AGAIN. THE SWIM SET ME UP FOR A GREAT RACE, GOTTA LOVE THAT FAVORABLE CURRENT!!! I feel that I raced pretty smart but everything seemed to work out pretty well. Next time I will have a definite plan for nutrition which is something I kinda guesstimated when I needed to eat/drink and just got lucky. I'll work the nutrition thing into my training runs/bikes next year for my first IM.

  • Comments: Overall a very good event - loved the community and the support of the local citizens and volunteers. Plenty of water stations on the run, sufficient on the bike as well. Wish there had been more for post-race activities and food and beverage. Only cheese pizza was left when I came in and nothing but water left to drink.

  • Comments: Just a great experience for my 2nd "official" 70.3 race. Had a great weekend with Watson and enjoyed the entire thing. Only difficult thing was missing the girls for the 4 days - it's a long time to be away but there was no way we could have cut any time b/c we needed the prep time and travel time! I really hope to do an event like this at least once a year!

  • Comments: Awesome race! I think PEM did a fantastic job w/ this race, especially for it's inaugural event. The course was fast and fun...definitely a PR course. My only issues were with the logistics of getting around pre-race and for fans during the race. Lastly, a race of this size (nearly 3,000 racers) makes any bike course a drafters paradise...no way around inadvertent drafting with a crowded bike course. Other than a few minor hiccups, there seemed to be more than enough volunteers and the fans were great! I would already be signed up for next year's race if I hadn't already signed up for IM Wisconsin. For a 1st time 1/2 IM, I couldn't imagine a better event.

  • Comments: Great race, even for a 1st time event. Swim was awesome. Bike course was very fair (maybe packed in later waves but off the front it was not too bad). The run course was probably the most spectator friendly run course I have seen. I loved it.

  • Comments: This was a great race to participate in! It was well organized and everything ran smoothly. Overall I had fantastic race. My goal was sub 6 so I couldn't be happier. I am hoping this race was a result of my IM training. I am both nervous and looking forward to seeing how I do at IMAZ!! I would recommend this race to anyone!

  • Comments: Pretty well organized for a first-time, huge event. Venue is good. Course is good. I would have like to have seen water stations 1 and 2 on the bike closer, and I would have liked the run water stations to be closer to every mile. Maybe it was just me, though. I was so thirsty all day. I would definitely recommend this race to others, and I would do it again to see if I could improve on the bike course, at least.

  • Comments: It was my first Ironman 70.3 and I will say it was a blast regardless of how I felt!!! The spectators were great and the course itself was good. Enough people to where you were never alone which in my opinion helps on a mental level especially with long distances!!!

  • Comments: First and formost this was AWESOME, it was my first 70.3 plus an IRONMAN. On the flip side of that I was disappointed in the post race activities, as well during the run 2 water stations were depleted, 2 ran out of cups, many lacked ice, and on my second loop, no iced sponges. IT"S THE FRIGGING SOUTH DURING SEPTEMBER! IT"S HOT! Ok, if you have say 26 waves, please remember those in the last 25% of the waves! I must applaud our men and women in uniform, US ARMY! These men and women were station 2 at each street, road, and intersection along the WHOLE BIKE COURSE. At some there were Sheriff and State Troopers but The US Army was deployed if full for our safety! FOLKS, if you read my report please write Brigadier General Jeffrey W. Foley, Commanding General of Fort Gordon Georgia and compliment his men and women on their OUTSTANDING duty during this event! As well, I plan to write a letter to the Governor of both SC and Georgia and compliment their law enforcement individuals. Not

  • Comments: I wanted to break 6 hours, which I did. I wish I had finished feeling better though. Yesterday I thought I never wanted to race again, but today I'm trying to figure out which HIM to do next. And of course Louisville next year, I guess since I paid for it I'll have to do it too. I think this race was very well organized. The mandatory meeting and packet pickup went smooth, expo had a lot of cool stuff. On race day every wave seemed to start right on time. Tons of volunteers out on the course, all of them very nice and encouraging. Only complaint is the shirt, it's very boxy and fits horribly. Other than that, they did a great job with as many athletes as they had.

  • Comments: I had the best time of my life from a fun standpoint even though the distance is nasty and painful. Even though I impressed alot of folks, and proved I can dish out some pain, I had better grow up between now and IMAZ or I'm in for a world of hurt.

  • Comments: Amazing, astonishing and FUN. We had as our goals to have fun and finish upright and ambulatory. We did that! I could have done better in some areas, but mostly I'm just tickled pink that I completed it! DFL>DNF>>DNS The volunteers were awesome. Post-note: someone in my rack left her wetsuit. There was a 404 number on it, so I took it with me and called her to arrange to give it back to her. She was delighted. We talked for a while and it turned out SHE WAS IN THE CAR THAT GAVE ME WATER!!!!!! Isn't it wonderful that her good deed was so quickly repaid???
