  • Comments: I am glad I am doing the full Lifetime Fitness Series. I would probably not return to this one or recommend it to other east coasters. It was semi hectic with the loose organization. The volunteers that were there were great but they were definitely not enough to handle the masses...they were running out of water on my second run loop....and there were 15 waves after mine...Also, downtown LA is making a turn for the better but still is pretty seedy with some colorful folks lurking around the streets.

  • Comments: I had a great time on this race (my first olympic, second race), but there a few things that I can't get over, and probably will not do this race again. For one, they screwed up my age group, which caused me some stress that I probably could have gotten over. However, my results were then missing because of this (worked out within 48 hours). This wasn't a huge deal and I'm sure happens to others at every race. I do not like the point to point format, and would try to avoid it in future races. The entry fees + parking were very high. The worst part of the race, for me, was the condition of the roads. I bike all the time in West LA, Santa Monica, Malibu, Brentwood, etc. and do not have to deal with bad roads. These roads were bad from start to finish. Next year, I will be doing Malibu Olympic (which, this year, is just one week later).

  • Comments: This was only my 3rd tri, but it was definitely the best so far. A bit pricey, but they did have to have cops on almost every corner. It was worth the cost though just to be able to ride down Wilshire in the Miracle Mile with absolutely no cars! I'm sure I'll do it again next year just because of the proximity to my apartment.

  • Comments: I was a bit disappointed with this race. Even without a taper, I expected to go 2:30. I lost time in the swim, T2 and a little in the run. I was happy with my bike leg.

  • Comments: I could have placed 3rd. I could have actually placed in a triathlon. Now it is just in the super clydes division, but frick...I was probably the biggest super clyde there. One guy that I thought was big only weighed 255...where I have 20lbs on him. This is my final race at LA. The race is too expensive and the seperate transitions is dumb.

  • Comments: I enjoyed doing this race. Probably wont do it again next year. Not a huge fan of the point to point aspect of the race. Very well organized. I had three plans for the race (A, B and C) Plan A was my "I'm having a great day and everything is going right" My goal was to finish in 3:00 to 3:05 Plan B was my "It's an okay day, wheels haven't fallen off but I'm hurting a little" goal to finish in 3:10 Plan B was "I pinch flatted on a pot hole and lost my nutrition" the goal was to finish in 3:20. I really didn't expect to break 3 hours. Only by 2 seconds, had no idea I came that close. I'm very excited that I broke 3 hours on my first attempt out for an olympic. It gave me some confidence as I start to build up base for HIM training.
