  • Comments: I thought there were too many participants. By having the Sprint start first and then the Int'l, it took over two hours until my wave started. Given that I had to get there early for transition, I spent far more time waiting around for the race to start than I actually spent racing. I'd like to see them split up the race and do the Sprint and Super-Sprint on Saturday and the Intl on Sunday.

  • Comments: Despite being a super crowded race I had a good time even though my times really weren't much different then last year. I'm still happy with the way I've progressed. You do have to have a bit of patience when you have 9000 other people racing with you, but I think the vibe and excitement of a race this large are worth the minor inconveniences. The vibe of coming in at the end with SO many spectators is pretty awesome. You do end up feeling a bit like a rock star. I suspect I'll be back sometime in the future.

  • Comments: Never race again in Chicago IL, where the Nazi's that run that city would rather make sure you get a traffic ticket, even if it is wrong by a computer, than spend the equivalent of one cent to ensure your safety! How can those scumbags at city hall claim they have no money to fix a pot holes and then spend millions on the most extensive computerized Nazi Auto Camera system in the country that auto mails ticket to everyone, half of which are not even correct in the first place? On of the top Pro's Andy Potts was even hurt badly in a bad bike crash. Screw them, and they actually think they should be given the 2016 Olympics? What a joke, want to bet in China they fixed the pot holes before the Olympics? Spend you money and race in a City like San Francisco that cares enough about you to make sure you are going to be safe.

  • Comments: Based on the Olympic I did in July, I was hoping for a time under 2:52. The bike on this was shorter, and I thought I could do all three legs a little faster due to the flatness of Chicago and the change in altitude from Boulder to Chicago. In my dreams I had hopes of breaking 2:50, but I did not see that as a realistic goal. When I caame within view of the finish line, and I saw my time, I was shocked, even more so given the size of transition. Very happy with race. I had a great weekend with lifelong friends, and I see this becoming a tradition for us in the years to come. Also, I wore a balck and gold CU Buffs cycling shirt for the race. A lot of cheer and support for Colorado, CU, and the Buffaloes as I ran by, which helped tremendously. Could not have asked for a nicer day. The weather in Chicago at the end of August could have just have easily been 90+ degrees, so I thankful for a sunny 70 degree day.

  • Comments: This race is just so friggin huge. For its size it is incredibly well run. 9300 participants, or something crazy like that. Almost 5 hours of waves. And all on time. I know I said it last year, but I think this year I mean it. I doubt I'm going to do this one again for a few years. Great experience, but lots of hassle too, with the early check in, etc. Over all, though, we had a blast. Lots of fun doing a relay. I would definitely do a relay again. Just on something a bit smaller.

  • Comments: Huge race. Logistically tough compared to local events, but worth the trip. Doubt I will be back for a few years, but I loved it none-the-less.

  • Comments: I am happy with my race, I know that I could have done the bike and run faster but I am really just chalking it up to being a noob. I start training again tomorrow and will be killing my time in my next race just a couple weeks away. Had a blast. Some of the best weather we have had all summer. I do love this sport!

  • Comments: My first Chicago Triathlon was completed safely and I enjoyed most of it. The sheer size makes it a little intimidating, but I tried to focus on doing my own race and not worrying about time and place. Complaints: (1) Lake Shore Drive is an abysmal bike course given its condition which is pretty much the same year to year. (2) I was disappointed by the post-race party/picnic. I was trying to feed my young sons and they would give me only one hamburger. Family was not allowed to enter the picnic area. Quote: "The Chicago Triathlon Post Race Party takes place on Columbus Dr. just north of the finish line and runs from 8:30am until 3pm (see schedule below). Open to participants, friends, family and volunteers." The party consists of the picnic. But the picnic is not open to family. At a minimum, the web site is a little misleading and they could give me another burger. I made a big commitment in time and money to this race. (3) They really need to consider opening transition

  • Comments: Still one of my favorite races. Expo is excellent, won a transition bag at the Toyota booth, lucky me! If you don't get a chance next time stop and speak with the pros at the Toyota booth. I got a chance to talk with Andy Potts, ironic now after his accident but he's a top-class family guy and a competitor, had some funny things to talk about - best wishes getting healthy again Andy. Also great to hang out in Chicago, got to meet UFC fighter Chuck Liddel (long story), then met another pro at dinner that night. It was a great weekend to be a triathlete in Chiago.

  • Comments: This is a good race. The only issue I would have with it is that it has gotten too big to the point the bike is dangerous. However, with the size of the race the organizers do a great job. Everything ran on time and there were no major issues with timing, running out of fluid, etc...

  • Comments: This is a race for everybody: novices to pros. While this may have been frustrating to some (especially the pros who crashed on the bike course), it made for an interesting, fun, and well-spectated event.

  • Comments: I LOVE racing downtown Chicago - so beautiful. It really makes you appreciate the city. Fun Fun Fun - it is already on my calendar for 2010!!! The City of Chicago needs to get their act together if they think they can hold the Olympics - Lake Shore Drive is brutal, there was one pothole in the middle of the left lane going southbound that could have hurt many.
