  • Organised?Yes
  • Events on time?No

  • Lots of volunteers to help?Yes
  • Plenty of drink stations?Yes

  • Post race activities? Good
  • Overall course based on my ability: Just right

  • Comments: Almost 1,500 people running either the 5k or 10k-the atmosphere was great. They had one drink station that you loop past twice on the 5k and four times on the 10k. Free shuttle from So. Station makes it a little easier to get to an otherwise inconvienent start line. Free chowda, beer and massages (courtesy of Marathon Sports) post-race was cool, although I only indulged in the chowder. The line for beer and chowder actually cut though the home stretch for many 10k runners but the organizers promised to fix it for next year.

  • Comments: Postives: flat course, fun group of runners, great post race beer and soup Negatives: Poor coordination between end of 5k and continuation of 10k. Lines for post race activities blocking last 50 yards of 10K race. I think I counted a total of 10 bathroom stalls for 1500 people.

  • Comments: Decent performance by the race director who had nearly 10x as many folks as last year, but still a bit rocky. Race started 15+ minutes late and there weren't enough folks telling runners where to go at the start. Took a while for the big bottleneck of folks on the wrong side of the start to move around to the other side. That other side, unfortunately was packed with snow and a little icy and not the best place to put the start, but they were working with what they had. Around the hour mark, there was no semblance of order on the last stretch of the course. The bag check and the chowder/beer line was out of control and directly in the path of the last 100 yards. It got worse by the minute and people just started milling about right in the straightaway at the end of the course! I yelled at a few people but then gave up, pretty disheartened that people gave me dirty looks when I asked them to move cause there was still a race going on. Feh. Oh well, they've got some lessons

  • Comments: I think the fact that they increased the number of participant by 500% from last year played a big part. Hopefully they will learn and do better next year.

  • Comments: the start was NOT organized; the start/finish line was pushed back a the end of an industrial park and there were lots of snow and ice piles. NO seeding which i overheard frustrated a lot of 'faster runner' - the head count went from 300 to 1500 from last year so i guess that's just growing pains.
