  • Comments: Well organized event. Huge amount of people, both racing and spectating. Volunteers were plentiful, with only 1 water stop understaffed. Bands were a little weak as mentioned before. The last 1/4 mile finish area was overflowing with spectators. The runners path went from 3 car lanes wide to about 10-15 feet between the spectators. Not very safe when racers are sprinting to the finish. I was afraid of mowing down cheering people as I was on the outside, passing slower runners.

  • Comments: We had lots of fun at this race. I really liked the rock n’ roll theme with all the bands along the route. We had a great time and thought it was well organized for 38,000 participants. I can’t imagine organizing such a huge event! They had tons of volunteers, and the cities were nice enough to block off and allow us to run on a wide portion of the road. Aid stations always had lots of stuff. For such a large event it does get crowded, but we were never in any huge lines for anything, and were able to get our stuff and leave pretty quickly after the event. Getting out of the parking lot wasn’t even that tough. For a first half marathon, it was a great venue.

  • Comments: My goal was to pace Jeni for her 1st race so I set my watch on a 3 min. countdown timer, we ran 1 min and walked 2 minutes then started overagain. with the exception of a few potty breaks and walking to watch some of the bands we stuck to that plan for the whole race. The plan was to get her to the finish line without overstressing her. She did great and although she is sore she felt the pace was perfect for her. Overall a success for her 1st 1/2 marathon.
