  • Comments: I've included my race day report below, but I wanted to say a special thanks to everyone who signed Lisa's encouragement book while in St Pete. If she's up to it, I hope to be able to visit with her next week and give it to her. She posted a quote from Nelson Mandela on her CarePage yesterday that I thought you guys would appreciate. Thanks again for such an amazing experience and I am definitely ready for the next season! "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some

  • Comments: Great race. You couldn't get off-course if you tried. Everything was marked and attended. Very timely. Lot's of people though-but everyone was nice and helpful.

  • Comments: This race was good enough that I can't wait to register for next year. I'm so happy I came to this event. I learned an awful lot and had just as much fun doing it. Fortunately, I got a killer spot in the transition area (right by the exit which was right by where I parked the car). Crossing my fingers for next year. That was huge transtion area. Sad I didn't meet any BTers and couldn't make it to the post race party (that was a real bummer). I thought I saw the BT logo someplace near the transition area but I was way too exhausted to turn back when I remembered it. Other duties had urgency as well.

  • Comments: Its a well done race. I am very disappointed that I was 17 minutes slower this year esp since I did this race last year on a broken hip. Yes the swim was choppy yes it was windy but I can't blame it on any of that. It was fun to meet BTers live and in person. I got to meet Hunter Kemper. Things I learned at this race 1-Listen to my body NOT what ANYONE else is telling me to do with it as I know it best 2-Be self-fish. At an A race I need to do what I need to do to get ready and let everyone else worry about their own stuff. Being nice doesn't result in a good race 3-Don't train one way then follow another approach on race day despite what ANYONE else tells you to do. IE: train for 4 months using HR zones then do RPE on race day.....stupid

  • Comments: I'm coming back next year to kick Tampa Bay in the butt. Was awesome to meet so many fabulous BT'ers. Very kind athletes who have been great letting me know that DNF happens. At least I wasn't DNS. I'm proud of me for getting in the water and hanging on as long as I did.

  • Comments: I'm not in as good a shape as I was in last year, so I couldn't expect to do as well. My main goal was just to survive that rough swim, and just pass people on the bike and run. I definitely passed more people than people passing me, so I'm very happy with it. Looking forward to next year when I age up and get to start almost 30 minutes sooner!!

  • Comments: After the race, i started getting a headache and I knew that it was due to dehydration and heat exhuastion. The headache grew worse after lunch and by the time I got back to the hotel, I was in PAIN and my head was about to explode! We had plans to go out for a celebration that night but my siblings and friends had to go w/out me b/c I was puking and needed to sleep off the headache. Oh well, here's a lesson learned.

  • Comments: Despite the choppy water conditions (which made me feel really tough!) this was an awesome race. It's my 2nd year doing this race and I highly recommend it. The volunteers were awesome- they were on the ball. I made sure to thank the officers in the road stopping traffic and the volunteers at the run aid stations. This race was well organized and the course was nice. What I loved most about this race is participating in TNT. The support I received from other TNT'ers during this race was so nice. And it was so nice seeing so many pruple jerseys from other states.

  • Comments: they ran out of cups at the last aid station on the run so they were just pouring water out of these big gallons. that was funny, some people opened their mouths and tilted back their heads, others offered their hands. The Venn diagram of TNT peeps and BT peeps made this a very special day.

  • Comments: These BT events just get better and better. The weekend was one big social interrupted on Sunday morning for 3 hours of swimming, biking and running. What an absolute blast. All of the BT'rs I met were incredible people, diverse, individually unique but joined by this crazy sport of triathlon. I only wish we could do this kind of thing more often. • Comments: My goal was to beat my last year's time but I was :26 seconds slower. That wasn't bad since the conditions were much worse. Great race, great time with the BT'ers that were at the parties.

  • Comments: Great race. It's changed a little bit since the last time I was here in 2001. However, the changes were all good. The organization was awesome for the amount of athletes competing. I will be back next year for sure.

  • Comments: All in all, I had a good day. Some tough conditions out there and my lack of experience at this distance and with ocean swimming limited my ability to perform, but I ended up top third in my AG so I cannot complain. I think this is only the beginning...I can only get better, right? Second Oly ever and a PR by about 5 minutes. This race was really about expanding my horizons. Lots of firsts...first time flying with my bike...first ocean open water swim...etc. etc. Good chance to try out some pacing on the bike and see what kind of shape my legs were in. Very good warmup for the season! The RD put on a good show. I was a little upset at the start waves because the latter waves really suffered as the surf kicked up. I think they need a better starting plan so that it's more fair for everyone. And the wave ahead of my wave was full of a LOT of slow swimmers...whose idea was THAT? Let's put the two most competitive swim waves for women right after the slow chicks...brilliant.
