  • Comments: This race seems overly huge. I know it's a marquee race, but 4000 people seems a bit too crowded. But it's local for me and I'll probably do it again next year. I was bummed about the swim, but definitely understand the safety issue.

  • Comments: SA does a class A job. It was great to see Pros like Andy Pots and others. It also neat to meet people from all walks of life from all over the world who love to do this crazy sport.

  • Comments: Can't blame St. A's but my timing chip did not work on the run. As per the official results I did not pass the check point at the half way point of the run nor did I finish the race. Otherwise, St. Anthony's deserves lots of credit for this race. They put on a great race anyway but this year they had to make a tough call and had the group well organized for a time trial start at the swim exit.

  • Comments: Fun atmosphere and 1st Olympic I did. I really dislike sprints, but it is what I mostly race due to convenience. Love the HIM I did last year, but time for that training is limited year-round. Think I found my sweet spot with this distance. I was not sore after the race and did take Monday off but was back to a nice run Tuesday morning. Really thankful for friend and their family for letting me stay with them in St. Pete! Looking forward to 2010 to get revenge on that swim...

  • Comments: Missed swim was a real diappointment, as it was for many. I swam the day before and know I would have been okay. Having said that...it's not worth having someone die. Many people don't know their limits, or just would have gone since they paid for the race. I think the RD made the right call, as disappointing as it was. Overall it was a blast, mostly getting to meet some of my BT buddies. 156 3515 3531 Michele Bergen 36 New York NY 2:58:23 2:11 159 1:37:57 15.2 3:15 151 1:15:01 12:05

  • Comments: Being a big race makes some aspects of the race more challenging, but they do the best they can to make things run well. I do not like that women always start at the end as it makes our run about 15 degrees hotter than if we started 1.5 hours earlier. This year the RD had a very difficult decision to make with the swim. I respect his decision to protect the athlete from potential harm. It is hard to predict the weather and waves. In '06 pros started with water like glass and they had to rescue 80 age groupers as the wind picked up a lot over 3 hours of folks starting. I'd do the race again as the location is great, works some years with family vacation plans, but it is hard as a Northern athlete to get much ows or outdoor warm training in to do our best the end of April.

  • Comments: While I really wanted to complete my first Olympic and do the swim I understand why they had to call it. Just took a little bit of the excitement out of it at the beginning, but once I was on the bike, felt good to race again. Will do this race again. My final comment is the waves, really believe it is not fair to the ladies to have to go last every year in the heat, they should at least go my age groups alternating men and women, maybe change it up a little every year. Plus not only is it not fair to the ladies but it definitely deprives me of any nice pace booty inspiration!

  • Comments: Its a nice race. Shame about the swim. Recent events make it all seem really unimportant. Its a hobby. I do it for fun and fitness. I try best everytime. My best is not typically fast but it doesn't matter in the grander scheme of life. I'm at peace with my slowness and content to try my best everytime.

  • Comments: I really like this race, but I'm not sure I'll do it again. I hate winter so much, and I hate training indoors for outdoor sports like biking and running. The only thing that got me through winter was working very hard at Tae Kwon Do and going up three belts between December and April. It's hard to justify entering a race on December 1st, not knowing whether I'm mentally and physically able to commit to the training. It's too expensive to make a half ass attempt to doing on on so little training. I enjoyed hanging out with my TNT and BT friends. Thanks for making it a fun weekend. I hope I can start over with running, and get back to doing some sprint triathlons. I'll never say never regarding doing Olympic distance or longer again. One never knows.

  • Comments: I was dissapointed that the swim was cancelled. I missed qualifying for AG Nationals by 34 seconds. Even if I had put in my worst Oly swim ever I would have still been sub 2:30 and over the past 5 years that would qualify me for Nationals every year.

  • Comments: Beside the fact that this wasn't my race, I still had a good time. The family wasn't there because I wasn't sure when my wave would start without the swim so that was a little bit of a bummer. This is such a good atmosphere. Triathlons are a good atmosphere in general and no matter my time, I still finished so I can still ask what the rest of the world did on Sunday!

  • Comments: very disappointed and upset they canceled the swim. should have given us the option. had we been able to swim, it would have been an awesome event. since swim was canceled, it honestly was a waste of $$. $165 for entry fee and $170 for room. very disappointed :(

  • Comments: I probably won't ever do this race again. It wasn't just the RD decision to cnx the swim for everyone but pro's. I have to admit I think that was STUPID. The water wasn't that bad...the pro's times PROVED that. We could have handled it. Offer people the option to not do the swim and the majority of your folks that would have DNF'ed on the swim are probably going to take you up on it...and the other 95% of the people would have been able to do their whole triathlon. Now, as to why I won't do this race again. The RD is a jackass. He always puts the women last! My original swim wave was scheduled to go off at 0858. 9am! 9-freaking AM in FREAKING FLORIDA! Seriously? The pro's would be LONG DONE before I even got to START! It's just flat out wrong to make the women have to deal with the worst of the heat every year. We've all complained and he won't change it. I will not do this race again until he changes that policy. I was going to MELT on that run. Since I was last...the

  • Comments: There was NO hint that they might cancel the swim - and again, the day before was just as rough so that was incredibly disappointing. Since they let the pros swim I wish we had been given an 'at your own risk' option, or a shorter swim or something. It really threw me and the long brick was fine but of course I would have done a longer bike. Just looked at my chicago data and my bike was better here even with all the turns, run was better (same issue as chicago) and I KNOW my swim has improved so for sure I would have beat that time

  • Comments: A good first race of the season. I definitely need some work, but I knew that. I was able to bike and run with the upper edges of my age group, which was the goal, and I was able to do it while out of shape and out of practice. I'm looking forward to getting faster over the coming months.
