  • Comments: That was the best swim course ever. Great bike course. Miserable run course...who runs on a highway? Doing this distance has taught me a lot about myself. I have decided I love this distance and want to do more 1/2's..you get to swim just the right distance, settle in on the bike and push on the run....but doing this is making me re-think my Ironman in CDA in June. I will take a couple of days to decide, but I am unsure today. I am glad, as always, that I had my best friend and my husband out there with me. And I am proud of myself-I wanted to quit 3 times on the run. Doug saw later that 65 people (out of about 600) dropped out of the race. I am glad I wasn't one of them, but I understand why they did. As far as being the hardest thing I have ever done, this ranks right up there with having a baby. :)

  • Comments: Several of the aid stations ran out of water AND ice. It was so hot that I was sticking ice cubes in my suit and they would be completely melted within 5 minutes. I also thought the post race food was odd. No beer tent. Red beans, rice, and pork? No thanks- I'm also not a big fan of pepsi products. For me it was a waste. Other than that I was too tired to go look around at whatever else they hard there.

  • Comments: Great race! Lots of food and fun afterwards. Well run and organized. Just wish they would grow some trees on the run course for some shade. :)

  • Comments: This was the best I've felt after a 1/2. Not my best time, the bike was slower, but it was my best run here. Still not sure I'm cut out for the longer distances.

  • Comments: Overall a great first HIM experience. The lake is one of the nicest I have ever seen in NC. Since this was my first 70.3, I don't have a lot to compare it to, but I thought everything went off without a hitch. Although not a "great" race for me, I am totally happy with my overall performance. Finished in the top 30% of my AG which qualified me for the Halfmax Championship which I unfortunately can't do because it is the week before the Chicago Marathon. My first thought after finishing was there would be no 140.6 plans for 2011. Maybe 2012 though ;-) Also go to meet a few other BT members before and after the race!

  • Comments: I am really happy for my first Half Iron race. I stayed under my goal of 6 hours by 10 minutes. I really need to race as Master Clydesdale, because I would place a lot better.

  • Comments: Good race, mentally tough due to a boring bike course and the crappy run. The lake is really beautiful especially in the morning before everything starts. The race shirt was kinda crappy, it was red and hard to read the writing, I would have loved a nice blue/green/grey shirt to match the serenity of the lake :) Though the socks were better then Pinehurst...such a diva I am!
