  • Comments: I did not know Christine (Lucy). But when she became ill, I was one of the visitors to her blog. She was smart and funny, and was obviously loved by many people. So when I saw there was going to be a BT Run for her, I knew I wanted to do it. :)

  • Comments: I didn't join BT until after Christine had passed. However, as I've been entering my old race reports from when I first started running, she was at many of the first 5k races that I did, and crossed the line within a minute or two of when I did (sometimes faster, sometimes slower). I have to believe that we would have wound up meeting and racing together eventually.

  • Comments: I only met Christine once, but was amazed at her spirit in spite of her disability. Glad that I was able to attend her funeral along with many other BTers. My prayers for her and her family. Lucy is missed.

  • Comments: I did not know BT's Lucy but have looked through her blogs. Seeing the deterioration in her typing and the spirit and frustration she vented is spooky. On my run today I thought of many people. I started with my Mom who died in 2005 at age 69. We only had 3 very tumultuous mos between her dx of metastatic renal cancer and her death. Many things went unsaid before it was too late to say them. I thought of my brother Eugene who died in a car accident at age 47 last year. He left behind 7 yo twin sons. He was a natural runner and although he had stopped running, I always imagined he would start again someday and we could share that. I never entered a race with him but my husband did and it was fun to cheer for them in a St Patrick's Day road race many years ago. As I picked up my pace for the last mile I asked BT's Lucy to help me HTFU. It felt good trying to run a little faster. I ended my run at a tree that still bears the scars of a car wreck.
