  • Comments: this is a great race. I think we started 10 mins slow or something, but that was due to a parking problem they had, and with so many people there it wasnt much of a surprise. The coolest part was being able to watch the pro race right after I finished. They set the start times so the Pros started when I was beginning my run. So by the time I hit the food tent etc. after the race the pro's had come in from the bike for their run. They ahd them run a special 3 lap course so the spectators can see them more.

  • Comments: Very disappointing race this year put on by 5430 sports. The Tz area was a mess. Not set up on time and adding racks to the ends? All drinks on bike aid stations were hot! Water on one side and gatorade on the other on the run? I could not get gatorade on the last 2 miles of the run due to volunteers looking the other way. Not the volunteers fault. Nice to see my coaches wife Melanie handing out cold towels and water at the end. I will wear some D3 stuff soon Melanie. Chalk this one up as experience I guess! IM is way more important right now than an OLY! Almost 3 minutes slower than my PR on this course 2 years ago.

  • Comments: I have herd a lot about the 5430 series of races and it lived up to the hype! They were a little late due to a back up at the body marking station but it was only 15 min and didn't bother me at all. I am really impressed with everything. I did it and can't wait for my second!

  • Comments: My only problem with this race is that they are very environmentally conscious yet they require 1500 people to drive twice to the venue for packet pickup which negatively offsets everything they do environmentally many times over. Plus it wastes a lot of people's valuable time. Allow people to pay extra to have their packets mailed and do a race meeting via the internet or conference call if neccessary.

  • Comments: Overall, a fun race, but not so excited about my run time. I fuel/hydrate well on the bike, so I need to figure out why my times aren't any better then they are. I feel like I shouldn't be that far off of my 10k time, but over 5 minutes seems like alot to me. Not sure how to improve on that, but I'd be happier with a time at least around 48 minutes and definately under 50. Still it was fun, and I did alot better time-wise then L2L. Hopefully the more I race, the better I'll get!

  • Comments: really a well run race. Very well supported and run. I'd definitely do it again - hopefully without the 98 degree weather at the finish.

  • Comments: This is a great race. I enjoyed it back in the early 90s when I raced it and I enjoyed it yesterday as well. I love the bike course and I thing the RD does a great job overall organizing this event. Something that I think they should change is packet pick-up. Seems to me it's really a waste of time and fuel to drive and pick up a race packet the day before (120-miles for me RT). I know they have the pre-race meeting but I skipped it and had no issues because of it. I think they could make this optional. I like the race but it just ties up too much of my weekend. I'm not saying I won't do it again...but most likely I'll look for races closer to home.

  • Comments: This was my first Oly. I wanted to go 2:50:00 but the baseline goal was under 3:00:00. I did it! I had the best swim ever! First time I've ever swam that far! My bike was good. It was tough, but I had a blast. The run was hot and dry, but a good test. I put it all on the line out there and had a great time. This was a great day!

  • Comments: Very disappointed as this was the first tri that I had registered for and was intended to be my first tri ever. After four months of somewhat regular training, I was hoping to do better.

  • Comments: This is a great race... one of the best in the country with one of the strongest fields of competitors anywhere! It is a great benchmark race to tell me where my fitness is at this point in the season. Since my bike/run split was faster than the winner of my AG, I'm think I'm in the best shape of my life! I just need to continue to improve on the swim and get ready for IMAZ!

  • Comments: I was suprised that the food kind of stunk after this race. They usually have really good stuff. The Q-Doba burritos were awful (and I like QDoba). I did have some water melon. The soda was some nasty Safeway brand. It just wasn't as good as usual. I will probably do this race again sometime, but I'm in no rush. There are plenty of Oly distance races around. I think I'll try some of those first. :)

  • Comments: I had a lot of fun even though this wasn't under the best conditions health-wise for me. I did end up in the medical tent after the massage--I just had severe nausea and a headache. It might have been too much too soon after my nephrectomy.

  • Comments: This really has to be one of the best run, most exciting triathlons in the country. There are so many competitors that it's astonishing. Great fun, and it's nice to pull out a third personal best (2:53:07 ('06), 2:40:12 ('07), 2:34:50 ('08)) while getting speedier in all stages of this thing. That, hairloss, and my growing spare tire all seem to improve with my advanced age!

  • Comments: The 5430 folks put on a great race. This course was a bit too challenging for me (relative newbie BOPer), but I look forward to the opportunity to improve upon my performance next season!
