  • Comments: It was a great experience to race the ITU long course World Championship. I had soooo many laughs with my teammates, my husband actually had a GOOD time, and post race Vegas shinanigans (and cocktails) were a blast. I am sorry that I didn't make it to the awards dinner and Team USA party, but with my late finish and the host hotel being so far away (13 miles!) I just didn't have time to get there. If I race in Spain, I'll do that all for sure.

  • Comments: I've waited several days to type this 'report', such as it is, because I needed to gain some perspective on what was, in the end, a pretty disappointing performance. Plus, I was too busy winning money off of tourists at poker and then spending it in expensive restaurants. (Yes, I was a tourist too; I just happen to know how to play...) So, the morning got off to a poor start when they cancelled the swim. Apparently, triathletes have to be protected from themselves because they are too stupid to wear warm clothes on the bike after a cold swim. Whatever. So we did a time trial start, and I felt OK for about 45 minutes, though even then was getting passed pretty regularly. Things deteriorated quickly after that. I just did not have enough bike fitness to handle this very very difficult course. There was no hiding from this course. There was no taking it easy to save yourself for the run. You can't really take it 'easy' up 2-mile long 8% grade hills, not to mention the 15-20%

  • Comments: Great course! Fun and challenging, wasn't an easy finish. I feel like I prepared myself extremely well for all the hills and executed my race plan perfectly. I think to do better I need to challenge the bike a little more. The volunteers were absolutely amazing!

  • Comments: This was a great experience. I hope to be on the USA long course team again in the future. Hopefully the next time there will be a swim segment for the race. :-)
