  • Comments: I thought this race was heads and tails above the FL 70.3 and I thought that race pretty well done. If I wasn't going to Japan I would definitely be racing NYC again. I'll be back in 3 years.

  • Comments: AWESOME!!! THE BEST PART of all was seeing Tmac finish this race. He was a real champ at entertaining the idea of doing this race...with hardly any training and no training direction...i think he realized it was worth all the 5am, and no Friday/saturday partying sacrifices. We had a lot of fun! loved racing with the hams in NY as well ass seeing all the physically challenged loving humans!! so inspiring...i really love the human race!!

  • Comments: For a race that costs almost $200, the schwag SUCKS!!! Cotton T-shirt, cotton baseball cap, and nothing for women to buy at the expo. They had nice sports bras with 2007 on them, but nothing for 2008. Very, very disappointing.

  • Comments: I would recommend this race to anyone. It was very well organized, great volunteers, cool course. We went up with 12 people from out tri club so it was a great weekend overall. I think part of it for me was that I did not think I could do it because of the calf injury, so just being out there for me was great.

  • Comments: It was a tough day for everyone. Sad to learn that a competitor died during the swim. Still haven't decided if the race director should have announced the jellyfish issue (he didn't). Overall, it was well organized like always. My favorite race of the year.

  • Comments: I thought the race was a first class event. The volunteers were awesome, the course was tough, but amazing. The logistics to putting on an event of this size in NYC must be staggering and they really did a great job. I am looking forward to next year. Hopefully no cramps and no jelly fish!

  • Comments: Will probably come back next year and try it again. The run course is just fabulous and made up for the blandness of biking the West Side Highway, and swimming in the dirty hudson. Good race.

  • Comments: I wouldn't recommend this race. Seriously, for a non-new yorker, the logistics are terrible. I had a much better time even with flying my bike and renting cars. This was just really stressful and a lot of money. It didn't help being by myself either, or the heat, or the jellyfish. Maybe if you are from NYC or live there, you'd love it. I did love running in central park but getting lost going back to transition? I just think they really needed to help us out of towners a little more, and possibly helping us with parking at the expo. Oh, did I mention I saw Andy Baldwin, the bachelor? My mom is so funny. she kept comparing my times to Andy Potts and Andy Baldwin. She was amazed that I wasn't much off of the bachelor. :) And I told Andy Potts that since he was at my last 3 races, he must be stalking me. :) he's really tall! and a super nice guy. I LOVE doing these uber big races....the chance to see all of my "heroes" of triathlon, like Emma Snowsill, Greg Bennett, Craig Alexander,

  • Comments: Really good race for me, especially considering the difficulties on the run. It felt like a real accomplishment to set my mind on this and do it. It felt even better when I got my time and knew for sure I hit my time goal. Not bad to go from couch to 41st percentile in my AG in the first season. A little more work (actually a LOT) and I'd like to be in the top 25%. I had a good time, but I won't be doing it again. I'm very happy I was able to do this in my first season so close to home, but for the same expense, I will now travel out of state and do different races. Philadelphia 2009!

  • Comments: This is a really well organized and fun race. It's big and it's all in NYC so the logistics may not be appealing to some, but I didn't mind. I think it will be hard to match this experience in another race. I hope to do it again next year.

  • Comments: Great race, but the logistical difficulties really were a hassle. I would not do this race again given all the hassle. Was generally please with my race. Happy about the bike and swim, but disappointed with my run. Overall, though I improved my Oly distance PR by 10 minutes, but failed to achieve my stretch goal of breaking 3 hours.

  • Comments: Wonderful first olympic race! I had such a fun time, even despite the logistics of getting into, around and out of NYC. The event was very organized, great enthusiasm from athletes, volunteers and spectators. I would do this again in a heartbeat!

  • Comments: This race isn't perfect, by any means, but they do an amazing job, considering the magnitude of it. It's a great course, there are zillions of super-helpful volunteers, the expo and the post-race stuff is fantastic. It's expensive, and it has other flaws, but it's not for nothing that it's one of the premier events in the country. I'll definitely do this race again, but I'll probably volunteer next year so that I can do it again in '10 for free.

  • Comments: I really do love this race -it was my first tri last year and i think I will alwyas come back every year. I was hoping for sub 3:00 today, but it was not meant to be, I am really disappointed, but it's my own fault - I trained for this like my B race and the results show this. I am a little worried I may not be prepared for my HIM in October. I think I'll need to get some advice about my training schedule between now and then -I was hoping a good outcome here would give me confidence going into Oct., unfortunately it has shaken my confidence a bit. I'm being a little hard on myself, considering the circumstances I did OK, but I'll be back next year and as long as it takes to get that sub 3:00 time.

  • Comments: I would say 5, if they had thought of a few more things, like carpeting on the asphalt, educating the volunteers about the rules (such as you won't be disqualified for using the medical tent) and having tweezers in the medical tent. Also, mentioning there were jelly-fish would have been nice. However, the volunteers were spectacular, and it really was the "iron-man treatment" with a finishers hat, med tents, and the quality of volunteers that you get from ironman. It was really cool, although I am debating if I want to do it again next year.
