  • Comments: I really had fun before, during and after the race! It was great meeting all of you BTers who were there, and thanks to all of you who stayed up late to watch me finish (both live and on the net). I don't think I'll do another iron distance next year, but I will definitely do another one!

  • Comments: I really wanted to race this IM, not just survive it. I walked so much of the darn run and I'm disappointed in myself for that. Next year is going to be a sprint year and trying to blow away Augusta HIM in my home town. In 2010 I'll do another IM and I'm going to cut another 2:20 off like I did between IMAZ and IMFL in a year and a half. 13:26-2:20=11:06. Knock of 10 minutes more maybe for a 10:56. Thanks to Flying Tiger, Katiefrog, Mom, my GF Amy and my son Nicholas. I'm glad I'm a two time Ironman and that I knocked off over two hours from my PR. But I'm not satisfied. There is more in here.

  • Comments: If you're married and have a family, there's no way you can train for and finish an IronMan without their support. My wife and kids supported me the entire year and for that I am very greatful. When I registered for IMFL a year ago my goal was to finish sub 10:30. There were times in March and April when I thought I might not even make it to the starting line because of my injury. When I crossed the finish line I was proud of my accomplishment, but now that I've had a couple days to stew I realize this is the first race I have ever done where I did not meet my goal. Today I am an IronMan and I have so much to be thankful for. I have a wonderful wife and kids. I have a great life and I'm fortunate to be able to participate in a hobby I love. Today I am an IronMan. Tomorrow, I will be a FASTER IronMan!

  • Comments: I loved this race! I love crowds and I couldn't imagine if it were any less crowded out there for that second lap. It was amazing and the volunteers were great!

  • Comments: Being my 3rd IM, I expected to have good and bad points of the day. I had a great swim! The bike was mentally challenging. I only felt good from miles 1-8 and miles 105-112. I kept waiting to have a "high point" on the bike, but it didn't really happen. Maybe that's why I had such a good run. I felt like I didn't ride to my potential and took it out on the run. Usually the run is my weakest leg where it is both mentally and physically tough and I throw my nutrition out the window, but not this race. I felt amazing the entire run and never once hit a low point! Looking back on the day, it was a good race. As said in the 2004 Kona trailer, "You can usually think of at least one hundred reasons why you should actually stop, but there is always one reason why you should keep going".

  • Comments: A little over two years ago I was a recovering couch potato that could barely run a mile. With the constant support of the folks on this site, and in particular the people in the North Atlanta Multisport Club, what seemed like an impossible dream 2 years ago has become a reality. Along the way I have had a few setbacks, including two leaky heart valves and high blood pressure, but my friends never gave upon me and were always there to lend encouragement and support. I don't know how to adequately express to them how much they mean to me. I get a little teary-eyed just thinking about it. Thank you. Just Thank you.

  • Comments: First of all, I need to thank my coach MIKE PLUMB with TRIPOWER MULTISPORTS. I had never been coached since High School Track/CC, which was over 25 years ago. So putting my trust and confidence in someone elses hands to deliver me into a proper training world was a big step. However, it turned out perfect. Mike pushed me to my limits without taking me over the brink into destruction, which was my ultimate goal. He took my calls, answered my questions and made the training schedule work for ME, and all at a cost a penny pincher like me could even afford. Thanks Mike! Volunteers. This race COULD not happen without them. I volunteered last year, and it was great. They really put up with crazy amounts of stuff happening. Sweaty, pee drenched, water throwing, smelly, half crazed athletes. I tried to thank as many as I could, but you can't give them enough credit. Thankyou
