  • Overall course based on my ability: Too hard

  • Comments: Considering that I wasn't even sure that I should enter this race because of the difficulty, I'm really proud of myself. I made it to the start, I made it to the finish, and I wasn't even last!! I learned a number of things about strategy, planning, coping with the unplanned-for, and I was reminded once again that when I decide I'm going to do something and I'm in it, I'll finish, no matter what. I never once thought I'd quit during the race and it was a wonderful experience overall. This was a super race in a spectacular venue and very well organized. Even though it started an hour early, the water was freakin' cold and the bike was really hard, I want to do it again.

  • Comments: Bottom line: This is a mountain triathlon so conditions are a little more challenging. The lake is usually warmer, but this year was the coldest the lake has been since they started doing it. They were very responsive to swimmers who needed help due to the cold, and I appreciated the careful attention of the kayaks to those of us who were bringing up the rear. Racing Underground does a nice job and this event was no exception.

  • Comments: Really good race on a beautiful course with lots of wildlife- saw elk and deer. Looking forward to doing it next year. Hopefully the water won't be as cold.
