  • Comments: I wish the transition area was more secure. I don't have the best equipment, but someone could have easily walked in and taken whatever they wanted.

  • Comments: I had a great time at this race. Weather was perfect and really enjoyed hanging out with my fellow Donkeys. They are good peeps...and fast too. Congrats to Yams, Schmize and Pjgrande for grabbing the hardware. I have much area for improvement, but my head is back in the game and that is good.

I realized at this race that donkeys are bling happy (I'm guessing 80% of aero-helmets present were worn by donks) and serious, fast focking racers. Many faster than me take the sport much more seriously than I do. I've gotta ramp-up a tad in things like yanks, transition practice, biking in general, swim attitude, etc. I am mixed on this race. It's interesting how I used to want 8-ish swim and 20-ish bike, and 7-ish run. I've got that but now everyone I know is 7-ish and 22+ on bike, and 6-ish on run. Just keeping up with you playahs is getting tough. Take a look at my historical graph. It seems I just need to put

  • Comments: Overall a good race. It was run well as always. No transition area security this year which made me a bit nervous about leaving everything there after the race. Performance-wise, it was a good race. Swim - good; T1 - ok; Bike - eh; T2 - good; Run - good. This race was not a priority on my schedule. I have bigger things to train for and accomplish this year than ripping up a sprint. So, racing after a decent training session the day before was alright by me. Overall I'm happy with my results and AG placement.

  • Comments: This race is very well done. Not crazy about open transition but no harm there. Great food afterwards. Didn't have to wait long to check in. Timing of the waves on the swim got delayed due to the course getting a bit crowded but that was a good decision. My preference would be for the swim to be doubled which gives me a better chance to make up some time.

  • Comments: after thinking about this race..........initially i was a bit disappointed to be honest. had an "upper" goal of sub 1:10 which i thought i could honestly do. had a "realistic" goal of sub 1:15. so i beat my "realistic" goal and after thinking more about it i think i couldve gotten the sub 1:10 with better transitions and pushing harder on the bike and run, which i felt i couldve done since i was recovered before i was handed the bottle of water after the finish. another thing i feel good about is that previous to this tri i have only done two others....one in madison about 8 yrs ago and pewaukee last year. both of those tri's were kinda done on a "whim" and i was completely out of shape for both of those (pewaukee last year i was almost 200 lbs!) so you could make a case that this was my first tri that i have ever done where i was actually in shape. another think i like to do is take away positives from each event i do. in this case, I SURVIVED THE SWIM!!!! and also got my goal of

  • Comments: Great day, great people, great race. What a way to start the season. This was my last race. As a clydesdale. At the rate that I am training and losing weight I will have to be an AGer for the duration. Oh well-DTFU.

  • Comments: As always, Lake Mills was a great event and a major donkey happening. It was great to see and meet so many donks-- djdavey, morey1, jszat, jmwebs, AmyJoTris, firstnet 911, maggyruth, djdavey, 1stTimeTri, pjgrande, sgoehner, pjgrande, deannas, pseudoyams and others I just can't think of at the moment. It was also an absolutely perfect day for a race-- an almost unbelievable day, considering the non-Spring we've had in Wisconsin. I also got out of this race exactly what I wanted-- to rebuild my confidence in my run. I said going in there was no way I was going to be able to beat my time from last year. And yet, despite a sub-par bike and awful transitions, my swim and run were strong enough to help me beat my time from last year by more than 30 seconds. Now I just have to keep building on this momentum.

  • Comments: Easy course with great friends. I'm not a fan of races with open transition areas, but this seemed to be OK. Considering were I came from, I'm very happy with this performance.

  • Comments: Hey - this is a PR for me. I finally broke that dreaded 1:30. Now, if I get my butt on the bike more, I might actually break 1:25, eh?
