  • Comments: Without a doubt this race was one to remember. I just started training for triathlons 4 months ago after I wanted a challenge in my life and soon thereafter I caught the bug. I'm not officially obsessed and this was my 2nd triathlon, first half iron. I didn't know what to expect but mainly I wanted to use this as a race to show me what I needed to improve upon for next June (more on that below). I also wanted to gain more mental toughness because that was a big problem during my first tri. Needless to say I couldn't have been happier with how I performed and the race overall. The DDT race isn't a huge event but it was just right for what I wanted. I learned a lot about some points I need to work on and now I have a great base for next season. Thanks to my new obsession, I decided to sign up for Ironman CDA out in Idaho. Yes, it's probably the most foolish as well as amazing thing I have ever decided to do but each time I think about crossing that IM finish line I start to

  • Comments: A well organized race and plenty of volunteers. Post race food wasn't much but I guess I expected that. Sandwiches were pretty good. This was my first H.I.M. and it was a great challenge. I'll be ready for more next year!

  • Comments: This is a great course for a first Half IM. It is very flat. The transition area is far from the swim start/exit, which means you have to put on shoes after the swim and run 1/4 mile to transition. No biggie, just different. If I ever do another Half IM, I would probably do this one again just based on the course. Neil Semmel's races are always very well organized and have lots of volunteers. They were all great once again! I would recommend this race to any first time Half IM-er.

  • Comments: Overall, I'm pretty happy with my first HIM. Some things to work on and some things that will come along as a natural part of continuing to train. Good day with good support. A fun race that I will enter again.

  • Comments: Races need to more family friendly as a whole. Spending that much time waiting for family members can be boring. Also having things for kids and inviting families to eat food will make it a better environment. From a racers standpoint, it was organized and everyone seemed to be happy with the way it went.
