  • Comments: I went into this thinking I would run only 1 - 2 marathons in my life. But after this experience I know I want to do more. I have guaranteed entry to NYC in 2010 but after that I want to come back to DC and do this race again.

  • Comments: It was a great race, but it was SOOOO huge! The after-race festival was such a mob scene that I just wanted to escape.

  • Comments: Marine Corps Marathon has been and always will be my favorite marathon. I love DC, and running a marathon there is just awesome. The positive feelings on the course are pervasive. The Marines are awesome. It was my first sub-4 in 06, it was my first 3:30 in 07, this year I ran a disappointing race, but I still loved every minute of being out there. I'll be back in 2010.

  • Comments: This is a must do race to any marathoner. You cannot be around this many service men and women and not feel proud to be an American. My thanks to Toni who is the Team Hope for the Warriors Captain for getting me into the race and also to all of the service men who have given everything to keep us safe on our homeland!

  • Comments: For a monster sized field, the entire weekend was impecably run. From the expo to the runners village to the water stations to the finish, the marines did an awesome job to running the show for 25,000 people. The course was beautiful and the crowd support was great. What a great place to do a first marathon!

  • Comments: Great race, awesome spectator support. I wish I could have run through Georgetown 15 times because the support there was absolutely fantastic. I highly recommend this race to anyone.

  • Comments: Seemed like it took forever to get anywhere. After you crossed the finish line, wait in line to get blanket, wait in line to get medal, I skipped the post race picture because there was a line. Line to get food. shuffle along to get through the crowds, then what seemed like another mile walk to get to the family meet up area. There was a 30 minute line to get the finishers coin as well. Now that is the way everything seems in my head, remember just had kind of a crappy race so in reality it could have been fine but 24 hrs or so after it just seemed overly crowded. The crowds were amazing out there. Never seen so many spectators at a race. I think at one point they were 10 deep, and they were on every part of the course.

  • Comments: Good race. Well run for the size of the field. Only hiccup is getting to and from the start/finish to your car. It took us a while to get out of there and back on the road to go home. Ended up getting home later than I thought I would. But it was all good. Because of the timeline though, I had to meet Mir and the kids over at our friend's house where they were having a bonfire and outdoor picnic sort of thing. I met them there and helped watch the fire and kids. But I didn't get to change or shower (or go home) so I was a little grimy and felt sloppy. Also, within an hour or two my heart started into A-Fib since I didn't take my medication before the race. Resting heart rate was in the 140 range (I still had my HR monitor on). That meant I needed to get home and take my medication. After about an hour after taking it, the HR was back down into more of the normal range. Just an unpleasant feeling!

  • Comments: Very organized with lots of spectators that really cheered everyone on. The bands that are stationed throughout really helped to keep me going. The Marines throughout were upbeat and very enthusiastic. Having the medal hung around my neck by a Marine Corp officer was really emotional for me.

  • Comments: I think maybe one or two water stations could be used. The post-race activities were OK, but it was a mad house trying to get anywhere. Rosslyn Metro station was a joke and the shuttle bus to Crystal City Metro got lost and we were on there for at least 30 minutes.
