  • Comments: Negatives - Race swag was severely lacking. I expected at least a dri fit race shirt, all we got was a tshirt. The mileage markers were way off though the course distance was about right. Glad I had my Garmin. The finisher's area had no organization to it. I heard massage and food were available, but I never saw any signs for either. Postives - It's Vegas! Running up the strip was an absolute blast. Volunteers were great and numerous. Did I mention it was Vegas?

  • Comments: I dunno, this is only my second race, but some things to point out: 1)Starting mary and half mary together-why? Was way crowded at the start. 2) Water stations need to be where they say they will be. I am fine with the mile markers being slightly off so long as I have the Garmin, but to cut back on water stations cuz volunteers are light (they had signs up at the expo looking for folks to help with water stops) is a bad move, especially if you are talking later in the race. I didnt notice this, but my wife said tons of folks swarmed the mile 1 water station from the half. Does this really make sense to have this here versus at mile 24? 3) No GU stations as advertised. Was supposed to be GU stations at miles 18 and 21 or something like that. They were handing out powerbars somewhere, but that is a bit different than the gels methinks. Luckily I brought 3 just in case (miles 11, 15 and 21 I took em I think) 4)SOME kind of food, anything after the race. The Mrs informed

  • Comments: Last year I would have rated this race a 5. The addition of the 1/2 marathon was not the best decision...they ate all the food before most marathoners finished, which was only a poor selection of water and bannanas. The blue man group performing at the start was lack luster, and after seeing them there, I would definitely not pay $100 to see their whole shoe. The mile markers did not line up, and the signs were hard to see (last year the signs were right on and huge). There were a lot less spectators this year, so the back stretch was less motivating. Entertainment was better last year also. I will definitely be looking for a new "big" race next year. And the marathon T-shirt is terrible, very bad color, I plan on giving it to my mom for christmas, because it is more of a girl color :) So overall I had a great race, I'm glad I did it, and can't wait to start working on my next goal.
