  • Comments: This was a PR for me! I must say that I scored my mental effort less than my physical effort because from the beginning I was not up for this race. I think the weather was the culprit. I believe that physically I really hustled. I continued to check in and see that while I never really felt good all day I had put myself in the position to PR if I wanted it. Obviously, I wanted it and am very happy with the outcome. Racewise though, I still don't care for this event. Lots to discuss there but that would muddy the accomplishment.

  • Comments: Looking back at the race, I think it was a good race overall. I did't do the first ING last year, so I can't compare the 2. But there were plenty of aid stations, good crowd support...especially in some areas, and it was organized pretty well. I'm sure I'll end up doing it again.

  • Comments: Disclaimer: I did not have a great day at this race, but I have tried to be objective with my comments. My wife, who did not run and was a spectator, shared my sentiments about this race not being very well run and fairly unorganized. This was the second year of this race and while some of the problems from last year seemed to have been corrected (water and gatorade stations), there was still a good deal of disorganization. The start was chaotic and not effectively sign-posted. The race organizers and/or MARTA did not coordinate and/or respond to the capacity demands. The bag check pick-up was grossly understaffed resulting in very long lines, which given the 40 degree temprature was not a good thing - I waited around 20 minutes to get my bag. In comparison to other similarly priced and numbered races, i.e. $80-100 entry fee and 10k plus runners, this fell well short of my expectations. I will wait a month and run the Country Music Marathon in Nashville next year rather than run

  • Comments: It was a little windier and cloudier than hoped. I should be glad I couldn't overheat. Overall it was a good course. I was surprised at the number of people I was running with the whole time. I did not have to do much weaving, but had to slow a number of times due to the large crowd. Not nearly as many annoying run/walk/run/walk runners as you have in the Peachtree, who stop directly in front of you with no warning.

  • Comments: I thought ING made MAJOR improvements on the race from last year. The aid stations were fully staffed and well positioned. Even with the weather the crowd support was fantastic. My two complaints are that I think the course was long. Several people measure the course at 13.27. I don't think that is a coincidence. Also the finish line was horrible. We had to snake through Centennial Park. You lost all your speed with the 90 degree turns. Put the finish back on the street.

  • Comments: Again, as this was my first 1/2 period, I had no basis of comparison; but, everything seemed to run pretty smoothly - especially in light of last-minute changes to Start/Finish area due to the tornado that hit downtown Atlanta. It was a bit crazy trying to get to the start corrals and if I could make one suggestion it would be make the mile markers more visible. If they're placed higher (on posts) or marked with balloons, it would help people get some data for post-race analysis. Overall, though, it was a great experience. Lots of volunteers, the cheering sections on the course were nice, and it was cool sharing the course with so many like-minded people.

  • Comments: This race was still not the best-organized race but it was so much better than last year. It is really neat to run through Atlanta and the improved water stops were great and neighborhood cheering areas were a real boost. The new course was also a big improvement and the finish was more pleasant.

  • Comments: Water situation was 100% better this year. Also it wasn't sweltering, the race was good I am just one of those "outside the parameter" types who hates to leave Alpharetta! I don't like dealing with downtown. The bag pickup was a debacle but other than that, it was a pretty fun race.

  • Comments: Great course, very organized this year. I felt like there were drink stations at LEAST every mile, although I never used them. The course is definately not flat, but not too painful either. I do not train on hills for the run and it wasn't hilly enough to bother me until the last 2 miles.

  • Comments: This race sucked. It was not well organized or laid out. Everyone was just crammed into the streets and nobody could get through to their corral, let alone find where their corral was. The baggage checking sucked and when we went to go pick up our bags the lines were insanely long.

  • Comments: The course changes from 07 to 08 worked great to me. The course felt downhill almost the entire way to me. The new finish (tight quarters through CO Park) was awesome. I love running in tight quarters. Drink stations every mile made the miles go by fast. The thing they need to work on is the start corral system. It was tough to get back to corral 6 when it got crowded. Otherwise, I think they have this nailed (amazing that this is the 2nd year only). This race blows away the Atlanta Half at Turkey day.

  • Comments: This is my first half-marathon so I didn't know what to expect. Was kinda confused with all the people there. The streets were too tight and grid-lock occured right before the race. I never made it into my corral, but it didn't matter as the just launched everyone after the first two groups.

  • Comments: Great event. I now know how to prep for this race. I am happy even though I did not finish in my IDEAL projected time. But it is still a great time for me. Cheers! Note: Male division ranking -- 270/3803 ; Age Grade: 61.6% (Local Class)
