  • Comments: Total time- 1:10:18; 4th overall, 3rd in my AG but because the overall winner was in my AG, I rolled up to 2nd. Hardware is always a nice reward at these things. Overall, this was an outstanding race for several reasons: 1) I was very proud of my 4th place overall finish and my age group award; 2) Swee took 3rd overall and 2nd in our AG but like me, rolled up one spot to 1st place because of the overall winner; 3) Rob took 12th overall and 2nd in his AG. So, by doing so, we accomplished our goal of all coming home with some hardware. Interestingly enough, in 2009, I finished this race with the same bike course in 1:07:29, almost 3 minutes faster. Or course, the conditions today were brutal so that certainly played a large roll. Still, I think I can do better here if I actually train how I know I need to, should, and want to. Like us Cubs fans always say, next year. :) I plan on being back yet again next year as I age up into the 35-39. category.

  • Comments: 2011 - This was my 3rd Sprint Tri this year. I just started training for these in Dec/Jan....at 40 years old. This was a tough race for me due to the heat and the hills. I am glad that we didn't have to do the whole bike race on the 3ft trails. I have done two races where the bike position is set out for you based on your race number and one where it was first come first serve.... I personally like to have a spot picked out for me. The race was done well, started on time, and all of the participants and volunteers were friendly and encouraging. The only complaint I would have is that there were no pictures taken at the finish line.
