Fun Day today at school so the entire afternoon was playing: crafts, playing with toys,  slushies, movie, recess. Several of them said "this is the best day ever".
The PTO came around to each teacher and brought us a gift today during Fun Day of a brand new chromebook for each of us. Wow! So nice!!
Another nice moment today - the slushies. We have a "gift shop" in our classroom and the students can earn toy pennies throughout the day to spend in the gift shop. The class was fussing about never being able to get a slushy (they see the slushy machine in the cafeteria when we go to lunch but it is for older students) so I told them they can work together to donate their toy pennies and when they get enough I will buy them the slushies. So they finally earned enough just in time for Fun Day today and when we went down to the cafeteria to get them the Food Manager told me they were donating the slushies to the class! How nice is that?! I never would have expected that[...]

Today is the hottest mess of hot messes at work. Trying to pull together all of the post-event communications and 90% of people I'm working with are either out of the office (recovering from the event or on Fall Break) or not responding. Luckily my (new) boss is around and being super helpful. At least I'm at home so I can run the laundry and turn my luggage. Going back to Vegas tomorrow for Lady Gaga.
Overall thoughts on the week: I'm getting more excited about my new role. I told a buddy the other day that at first I was a little down after accepting the position because I LOVED my old role - mostly because it was EASY for me. And this new role is a wild card. I know it's going to be more challenging, especially at the beginning, and I don't know if it will ever be easy. But this week, I really feel like I nailed everything and the execs were super happy. It was a good jump off.
Other thoughts as I went through the week and got to see my old buddies from Kansas, Oklahoma and Ar[...]

I started going through every room in my house towards the beginning of the year and trashing stuff, donating stuff, and making a pile in my basement of stuff to try to sell. The pile has been sitting for months, driving my husband and I crazy, and I was super happy to finally clear it all out of the house today - it was literally two full car loads. My friend is having a yard sale tomorrow so I moved everything to her house and am crossing my fingers that a fair amount sells. The best part about it is that she already has a scheduled donation pickup so if items don't sell then they will be donated and I don't have to deal with it. Now that the not so small pile is finally gone, I'm going to deep clean and reorganize the basement. We literally never use that space, beyond working out, even though it's huge.

I full admit that I didn't workout yesterday because I was, in effect, tapering for today's Lair o' the Bear ride with Megan. It's climby and she's fast, and I knew with my lack of riding lately, it'd kick my butt a bit. Found out this morning that Heather was joining us, and she's even faster, so I was really glad I didn't go into it with tired legs, lol! As it was, they rode at what was a nice chill pace for them, and I huffed and puffed to try and keep up on the hills while they chatted away. Then we would all shred the downhills. Super fun ride. Even though I'm not totally in shape, nice to do a ride with some faster gals so I could work a bit harder and not have a ton of rest stops. Felt good.
Came home to paint for the afternoon. Chatted on speaker with Bill while I was working for a while about team stuff. We've got a group of friends who want to bail on the team next year and start their own thing, so we were trying to figure out what we'd gain from that and whether it woul[...]

Taking a rest day. I didn't feel great when I woke up and had a horrendous day at work.
The new team leader may have been fired yesterday. I'm not sure. She had some problems the other day and when she was asked about it she told the manager she reached out for help and nobody helped her. The manager asked me about it, my response was that she had asked a question via IM the other day that 3 people responded to rather quickly. She never asked another question. I was told she was in tears when she left yesterday and was not here today.

We made it BT, it's Friday. It's been a really good week albeit a busy one. Probably will go to the gym on lunch hour if work doesn't get too crazy and do my strength work.
I've been working on 2020 racing -- right now there's just one "new" (new to me) race on the tentative list. I want to take my mom out to Maryland again to see her sister. Last time was over 5 years ago and they are both getting up there in years. Found a race in Virginia that is only about 2 hours from my aunt's house that looks like a really good one. Now to get Mom to agree to go.

Probably won't get to run tomorrow due to tropical storm Nestor.  Hopefully this won't be a big deal, but it could be for all of the tree problems in Tallahassee.  Sustained winds are forecasted to be up to 35mph with gusts over 50mph.  Significant tree damage happens here once winds get to the 35mph mark, so things will happen for sure, just hope we keep power on.... I am picking up a Walmart grocery order today with ice and extra non perishables.

It's going to be a really nice weather weekend. I am committing to a short run tonight after work, gosh darnit.  Since I ran 50 mins Wed, my goal is the 5k I planned for Wed.    Also packet pickup for my half tomorrow.    It's going to be a lot of mileage in a short time period.
