Could you guys post some pics of your road bikes with aerobars.

I'm trying to figure out what kind if any I should get for my CAAD9

Short reach aero bars are the way to go on a road bike. I have Profile Design Jammer GT on mine.

I have a CAAD9 that I used to ride with Profile T2+ DL aero bars on it.  The DL (draft legal) is a shorter extension than the normal T2 and comes with a bridge.   I played with mounting for a while and found that I liked the fit best when the mount was flipped so that the extensions were mounted below the base bar.  This results in a really low position.  By default the tip of the extensions were about in-line with, or just in front of the hoods.  I put the armrests behind the base bar and set it up so that the armrests were against the base bar.  In this position my forearms rested in the cups but also touched the base bars (no weight was supported on the base bars).  On climbs, having the armrests behind the aerobars can be annoying because my knees would hit when I was out of the saddle, but there is plenty of clearance when seated.

I also tried experimenting with building armrests onto the bar with foam, but the position isn't very stable and your weight is supported too far forward on the forearm, which is very uncomfortable.  You can also mount the bars on top of the base bar and this allows you to move the armrests further forward, but you won't be as low.

Prior to the T2+ DL, I experimented with some Syntace bars (I think they were called the C2) and they were super comfortable, but not very adjustable and added a lot of rise to my position.  I couldn't get low enough on these, so I got rid of them.

Since the top tube on the CAAD9 is pretty long, it is tough to set up in a good aero position.  You can get really low, but the hip angle is not right.  I found it was always a compromise between a comfortable hip angle and a good low position.  You might also want to play with a forward seatpost, which shortens the effective top tube length and may aleviate the hip issues.

In summation, the T2+ DL was the best fit that I found and they are super adjustable.  These bars will definately get you pretty aero on the bike, but there may be an expense on the run due to the aformentioned hip angle issues that I never sorted out completely.  FWIW, I love the CAAD9 as a road bike.

I hope this helps.  Sorry no pics.

Check my albums.  It might be hard to see though.

I'm a minimalist and running Vision Mini TT bars right now.  I may go to the carbon jammers though at some point.  Nothing else really needed for me personally though.  I'd imagine the jammers are more comfortable though.

I've spend too much money on my bike the past coupole months though so no new upgrades this season for me and I'd really see no marginal benefit of changing that except comfort...who needs comfort though

edit:  just found a pick on my iphone that was clear and posted it to my timberman album....

Do you have a fast forward seatpost or your seat way forward?  I feel like I'd be too stretched out if I had those on my road bike.

...something else for you to consider hornsfan based on the way your bike fits you.

2007 Trek Madone 5.9sl w/Hed flip lite carbon aero bars. Otherwise stock with a road fit. I'm definitely stretched out a bit with a narrow hip angle when aero but that's how I've always ridden. I have the matching TT bike also and I intentionally ride it a bit stretch out as well. Texas Fight.

If you are asking me, yes I have a FF seat post.

But I have them as far forward as they can go. If I went with the stock seat post I could just pull them back in the clamps.
They just fit so great and so comfortable.

One more vote for PD Jammers GT.  I have 'em on my Cervelo S2 and also ran them on my previous bike, a Trek 2100.  I like that they are designed for road bike geometry...which is pretty much the main reason why I chose them.
