Tonight's show at "J Willy's"

Dive place in South Bend, IN.

I frickin' ate there - TWICE.

We were staying in a hotel next to this place and after the second meal, I woke up sick as a dog.

**full body shiver**

I was sharing a hotel room with my best friend, as we were in town for a Notre Dame football game.  My best friend is a great guy, but total freak when it comes to "pizza" - ordering something in would have ended up with me having to either gauge my eyes out or call a divorce lawyer as my in-laws happened to be staying in a hotel room 3 doors down...

ohh I like that band

i think it is random thought thursday...

fool me once, shame on you.

fool me twice, shame  on uhh, ...  we won't be fooled again.

TOO funny, I live in SB  never heard of that place, I take it from your post and fact that it was on that show that it is a HORRIBLE place, no?

It was pretty disgusting, but we were staying in a hotel right next door.  It was close and convenient and by the time we got into town on Friday, it was the only place left open.

It was just bar food and I remember it selling itself as sports bar b/c there were two large projectors shining on one wall.  It was a total dive.

The second night was again b/c it was right across the street and our main purpose was cold beer not food.

Then again, that was in 2006 and the show was probably filmed last winter...

After watching the show tonight I can see why you got sick. Nasty place. You stayed at the only hotel without a Waffle House nearby?

My parents were down here two weeks ago, staying out a little ways from the city and they accidentally went to a Waffle House (as we do not have Waffle House in upstate NY, so they didn't know how ghetto it was). They were appalled.

I'm a huge fan of Kitchen Nightmares. The US version of the show is a little different than the UK version (shocker!) - it's amazing how bad some of the owners are, and how much they put up with.

I think I'd go to J Willy's now, though. Glad I had never been before.

WOW! Can't believe you ate there... prior to the show. Funny.

I have to say that the owners and staff were some of the most appreciative folks they have had on there. That one guy crying had me crying!

Also, I love the UK (BBC America) version better than the US version. It's not as over produced and they make the owners fix their own places up. Unfortunately the BBC version hasn't had a new one in a long time.

Really like the BBC version.  Much more about how to make a failing restaurant work and much less interpersonal drama.

Waiting for the American version of my other fav brit reality show, "How Clean Is Your House?"

Love love love "How Clean is Your House?"  It comes on right after my other favorite, "You Are What You Eat."
