Okay, I need someone to train with. I find it very hard to motivate myself early in the morning, or even later in the evening.

I live on Val Vista and Southern and drive a Gas Guzzler, so driving anywhere is pretty much out of the question unless it's necessary. The economic crunch is kinda hitting hard, so I need to watch where my money goes.

That said, is there anyone else in the east valley that trains early in the morning or later at night that I can train with? I don't really feel guilty if I miss workouts by myself because I tell myself I can just work out later, but if there's someone else expecting me, I'm punctual as heck for every workout.

I have the same issue with workouts. I will be doing a long ride at 530 in the Manana. If you want I can meet you half way. I live in Tempe.

Meet half way and punch out some miles then head our seperate ways.

Well, not exactly in your backyard, but Chris and I go to AJHS a couple times a week to do the track and/or bleachers.  If you're interested pm me with your phone # and we can let you know when we go.  Also, there's the LA Fitness @ Signal Butte and the 60 we belong to and can meet up there.

I don't have a bike yet, so at the moment I'm restricted to running, or swimming if it's nearby.

Wow....I'm hurt.  I live like 3 miles away from you on the same street and you didn't even ask me. Hmmmph!   I am an early morning runner, and would love to have someone with me as I run the dark canals.  But I see how you are!

That would be great!

I was just asking in general, I knew you were close by, but I wasn't sure who else was.

What routes do you run in the morning, and about what time?

Hey Taegrr!

While I'd rather poke myself repeatedly in the eye than do early morning workouts, I'm all for getting together in the evenings. Like you, I have a tough time working out if it doesn't require meeting up with a partner.

I live off Idaho and 60, and work at Stapley and Broadway.

Like some of the others here, my LA Fitness is on Signal Butte and 60.

Once my schedule becomes normal again in November, I'd like to get together for some workouts.

Well, right now I usually run on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.  I either need to run early enough to be back home by 6:15, or I can run between 6:40-8:00.  I usually run along the canal that runs N/S just East of Lindsey.   OR I can run on the N/S canal just East of Greenfield.  One time we can start near you (I drive). and the next time we start near me (You drive).   Let me know if you want to try it some morning.

Beginning Nov 28 I will run Tues, Wed and Thurs. Same time restrictions apply, and runs will be around an hour each day.

I need someone to ride a bike with during the week.....so get on that bike shopping! Haha!

Working on the bike shopping already. Can't afford one just yet, but I'm aiming at $500 or less, and I've been scouring craigslist. It seems the people with expensive bikes want to sell them off, and the people with cheap ones want to keep them.

Check E-bay. Finnance man got the best deal I could imagine. But it wouldn't hurt to check it out. Good luck.

One difficulty I have is I don't know the first thing about the different manufacturers, the different styles.

I do know that I want shimano hardware on it, but after that I don't know much at all.

Post what you find on here and the bike dudes will tell you if it is a good deal or not.  Josh (Robot) and others are really knowledgeable.  BUT...do you know what size frame you need?  You'll need to visit a bike shop and act like you are interested in buying a bike so they can size you up and tell you what size frame you need first.

I had a really good experience with Steve at Bikes Direct in Gilbert (202 and Gilbert).  Not pushy, very informative to a newbie, and taught me a lot (considering I also knew nothing).  I went to about 1/2 dozen in the area out here, and felt most comfortable there by a long shot.  I scoured the internet, ebay, craig's and LBS.  When all is said and done, after shipping costs, set up fee and all, it was a better deal to go here, get fir for the right size, take it for a 1/4-1/2 mile ride up and down behind the buildings and get a real idea for what I wanted.  It worked out for me.  Tell him Scott sent you.
