Subject: Tri Shorts
Anyone have recommendations for a good, reasonably priced, tri short?  What should I be looking for in the short (comfort, inseam, etc.)? I'm new to triathlons and I have no idea what to get.  I also searched the forum and couldn't find any other posts about this, but if there is one, please send me the link to it.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I have been wearing DeSoto tri shorts and I love them, very comfortable. They have a seamless pad that is quite unobtrusive and the seamlessness solves a lot of potential problems. I wear the DeSoto Forza low cut tri short and it is phenomenal to run in. The company also has great customer service.

The DeSoto stuff can get moderately pricey, but I wouldn't recommend getting too cheap with the tri shorts. I went that route for my first pair and they began falling apart on some of the seams after only a few wears. I ended up spending a little more money in the long run just to get a more quality product.

I've got some Peal Izumis (standard looking, solid black) that are very nice and reasonably priced at around $50. Nothing fancy, but they work great and are comfy.

I bought a pair of shorts that are more geared toward only cycling.  They have a little more padding which is great for the ride but I was told (I don't know personally) that they hold more water after the swim since they are more padded, so I wear them for training and I bought some DeSoto Tri Shorts for the tri.  They are very comfortable.  They're less padded but still provide the comfort needed.  I also prefer a shorter inseam which is more comfortable to me for the run.  Hope this helps!

i bot some of the aevero shorts that are advertised on BT.  they go for $30 and they're pretty good.  they also usually throw in something with in-free hat or free cycling jersey.  i think that's a pretty darn good deal.

Another vote for Zoot.

Be sure you get a long enough inseam that your legs don't rub on the bike seat.  I wore running shorts on a training bike ride once and surely paid for it!

Another vote for the Aevero.  They are cheap but have outlasted 2 pair of Zoots.  Mine came with bike gloves and I like those as well.

Careful with the "bike" shorts.  I had to run a unplanned 4.5 miles and was in the bike shorts, seams and all -- ya that was not pleasant for the next day or two...

I thoroughly enjoy my Louis Garn. Comp tri shorts, comfortable, not chaffing, just the right length for me and the leg bottoms are completely comfortable. I also was able to get them on sale from Trisports.com which is one of the reasons I bought them but I had also read some good reviews. Worth looking into anyway.
