Subject: Crazy idea - Southern California Aquathlon, good for beginner?

I know I just started but I don't think there is anyway I'd be ready for a full triathlon next year due to my bike skills.  Of course I may be wrong and my biking skills may get there and if they do, then I'd definitely find a sprint triathlon to do.  So I started looking for Aquathlons in my area (MD/DC) and it seems slim.  There do seem to be quite a few in CA so I figured I'd ask you guys!  I visit the San Diego area twice a year, at least, due to family so I think it would be fairly easy to fit in an event with a family visit.

Is there any Aquathlons in the So Cal area that you'd recommend for a beginner?

only so cal one I know of is Playa del Run, google that.  But I think there's only one more and it's next week.  Season is winding down.  Also google Night Moves in Santa Barbara.  I know they have a swim, might be an aquathlon as well, although I imagine they're winding down (or have finished) as well

Just re read, I think you mean next year.  Playa del Run has a couple events in San Diego county, so those would work.  there is also an aquathlon in Long Beach at the Pacific Open Water Challenge in July

Playa del Run has some good aquathlons. You just missed the last one in the series in Malibu last weekend, but if you meant next year, they start in April in San Diego, at Mission Bay I believe, and go up and down the coast all summer and end in September at Zuma. I think the website is www.playadelrun.com .
