Subject: New Brace Question

So I went to an orthopedic guy yesterday. He confirmed that I have chondromalycia . . . I pronate and my knee cap doesn't track. He said it's severe. WELL, anyway. So . . . he gave me orthodics and a knee brace to keep my cap in the right spot. He didn't say that I couldn't run! Woohoo!

However, I went running yesterday and I could still fill my knee cap rubbing . . . should I call him and ask if that is normal? Could it be the wrong size?

I don't know.

Never any harm in asking the doctor if you have a question. At least you have a diagnosis! It's always easier to handle when you know exactly what you are dealing with. I have the exact same issues, so I'd love to find out what solutions end up working for you. Good luck!

Yup, would definitely ask the doc.

Although it is likely that stuff that will alter your biomechanics are gonna feel weird at first, it is certainly a great idea to chat with the doc about it first and get an understanding of what is  to be expected.

No sense in making the injury worse with running....
