Is your tri bike usually a smaller size than your road bike.  I know the best thing is get a fitting but as I was shopping for some sales I was just wondering???

"Usually" as in more than 50% of the time, probably. "Usually" as that's a good way to buy a bike, uh, no.

First tri bike I ordered, the very experienced online seller insisted from my measurements that I needed a 52cm even though (maybe becasue?) my road bikes were 54s and 55s. The 52 came and was uncomfortably small, so he had to pay for return shipping and to send me a bigger one.Since then, all my tri bikes have been 54s.

As always, the best bet is to try before you buy.
