Subject: Rolled Ankle
I was just starting to feel comfortable with running when I rolled my ankle at the end of the run. Of course it was painful, but nothing was broken. I am using a boot to walk and have ordered an AirCast. Any recommendations for a faster recovery? I hate to loose the gains I have made.Ted/Users/ted.burton/Desktop/Ankle.jpg

Ice for the first 24-72 hrs post injury (depends on what text you read). Ice will help reduce swelling and bruising. What type of aircast is it? Is it like an ankle brace? A brace of some description is certainly helpful when easing back into activity as it provides support but using a heavy duty brace full time is something I personally wouldn't recommend because then your ankle comes to depend on it. But that's just my 0.02c.

ouch! that just brought back memories of an ankle roll I had a few years back. man, that hurt more than anything. it hurt to walk, sit, swim...anything.

definitely ice it down, bro. the boot is a good idea, as it will help prevent you from rolling that ankle again. you might want to look at taking some ibuprofen to help with pain...

i've found that, after a few days, you should try walking on it to get mobile again...but be careful. I have found that the ankle I rolled is prone to rolling more easily than before. I don't know if the tendons/muscles are weaker b/c of the trauma, but just be careful.

and take a pic in a few days, when it starts turning colors.

good luck...
