Nope, you're completely nuts when you sign up for the SECOND one.

Welcome, and good luck!

Let it lapse, man... You'll love it. Or maybe you'll hate it. But the only real failure is never trying.

You're the opposite of nuts...
Signing-up for a race is going to bring more focus to your training... you're going to be fit, healthy and happy (just don't over do it and hurt yourself!).

Yeah you're nutz, but it the best kind of Nutz to be.
It is one of the best feelings in the world when the announcer calls your name as you cross the line and about a thousand of your closest friends are cheering you on.
You go for it and don't forget the race report.

yep...this is certainly an illness of some kind.  I'm signed up for 2 this fall...and those will be my FIRST 2!  But, I'll tell you, the focus that comes to your training when you know those races are coming is GREAT.  Next I'll bet you sign up for the bronze, silver or gold BT membership level to access the advanced features of the training logs...I did that last weekend too. Never enough data...

Nuts I tell ya!!!

Nutz for sure.  Join the club.

You know, in every single race I have ever done I have NEVER heard the announcer call my name.  I know they do cause my friends hear it but I never have.  I wish I did.

I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.

I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain.

The acronym for fear is: Forgetting Everything's All Right... and it will be.

I felt EXACTLY the same way and just pushed the enter button and now I'm ADDICTED. In a weird twist of irony my second pair of running shoes are Brooks Addiction.

These quotes helped me and I hope they help you because for me I wish I would have known about this sport years ago because I missed so much FUN! Woohoo!!!

People living deeply have no fear of death.
Anais Nin

When a resolute young fellow steps up to the great bully, the world, and takes him boldly by the beard, he is often surprised to find it comes off in his hand, and that it was only tied on to scare away the timid adventurers.
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Fear is the main source of superstition, and one of the main sources of cruelty. To conquer fear is the beginning of wisdom.
Bertrand Russell

Fears are educated into us, and can, if we wish, be educated out.
Karl Augustus Menninger

Curiosity will conquer fear even more than bravery will.
James Stephens

I must not fear.

Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.

Frank Herbert

Fear: False Evidence Appearing Real.
Unknown

I am not afraid of tomorrow, for I have seen yesterday and I love today.
William Allen White

Who sees all beings in his own self, and his own self in all beings, loses all fear.
Isa Upanishad, Hindu Scripture

Where no hope is left, is left no fear.
Milton

Fear is only as deep as the mind allows.
Japanese Proverb

Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. The fearful are caught as often as the bold.
Helen Keller

You can discover what your enemy fears most by observing the means he uses to frighten you.
Eric Hoffer

If you are distressed by anything external, the pain is not due to the thing itself, but to your estimate of it; and this you have the power to revoke at any moment.
Marcus Aurelius

When I hear music, I fear no danger. I am invulnerable. I see no foe. I am related to the earliest times, and to the latest.
Henry David Thoreau

You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing which you think you cannot do.
Eleanor Roosevelt

In skating over thin ice our safety is in our speed.
Ralph Waldo Emerson

The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown.
H. P. Lovecraft

Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy.
Dale Carnegie

Try a thing you haven’t done three times. Once, to get over the fear of doing it. Twice, to learn how to do it. And a third time to figure out whether you like it or not.
Virgil Thomson

The enemy is fear. We think it is hate; but, it is fear.

Yup - but so am I. I did my first triathlon a few weeks ago, an Oly. I decided I needed to recover my run and signed up for another one in 2 weeks. and if that was not "nutz" enough - I organized a group to train for Timberman HIM 2010....and as much as I thought I would NEVER do an IM. Yeah - I think I may have to - and I am one race in *shakes head* - all I can say is - its addictive! and so flipping awesome.

welcome - I will join you in the asylum.
