I ride a Cannondale Multisport700 (http://www.cannondale.com/bikes/02/ce/model-2RM7.html)

I had a lot of fun on it this season and made huge gains in my times, but now I'm looking to make a few upgrades.

Currently I have a set of Syntace L-shaped aerbars, but they cause a lot of stress on my wrists.  On long rides, I usually just hang my hands of the ends of the bars, because it's too uncomfortable to grip.   After looking around online, I think s-bend or r-bend bars would be a better fit for my arms.

Does anybody have an experience with either?  If so, could you recommend a set?  (Unfortunately, my budget demands that they be alloy.)

I think I'd also like to take this opportunity to get bar end shifters.  Is that a good idea?  I'd appreciate your advice.

Do not get S-Bend. I have them on my bike and won't get them next time. Hard on the wrists. They are ok for shorter triathlons and time trials, but for longer rides I always find myself taking my hands off of them to stretch out my wrists. I would recommend the ski bend.
