I'm at LBI for the 18-miler.  I found this article at the sandpaper (local newspaper): http://www.thesandpaper.net/SandPaper%20Pages/sandpaper_page14.htm(this changes with every issue so probably only good for a couple of weeks).  I'm also probably going to the St. Francis pasta dinner tonight.

I'm very excited about this.  It's my longest race and run to date and I just love LBI.  The weather is beautiful right now - a sunny, breezy 60's/70's.  I'm going to hit the beach for a while and then head over to St. Francis to register.  Good luck to everyone else racing.  I'm hopefully going to be MOP running 9:00-9:15 min miles all the way, trying to beat 3 hours.

It went very well.  The race was well organized and the weather nearly perfect.  Lots of volunteers and cheering crowds.  I ran quite a bit faster than I thought I was going to - a full 41 seconds per mile faster, averaging 8:19 minutes per mile, a faster pace than the half marathon I did 2 weeks ago.  My total race time was 2:29:41, and I finished 154th overall out of 719.  I'll write a full race report soon.

I'm very happy I ran the race and was able to push myself and it was almost a reward to see how far my training has brought me, considering that a year ago I had never ran a full mile (maybe I did in high school, but that was a long time ago).  Now I'm thinking that a marathon may be within my reach, and soon.
