Subject: Good Beginner Triathlon Spring '10?
I am looking for some suggestions of a good sprint distance triathlon for me train towards as my first race.  I would like to either find something in the Atlanta area or in a location that would work for a weekend road trip like Eastern Tennessee, Western Carolinas, or Savannah.  If it is outside of the Atlanta area, I would leave after work on a Friday evening, so about 4 hours would be the driving limit.  For my first race, I would stick with my mountain bike and would rent a wetsuit if needed.  Sometime in the spring would allow enough time to train (and avoid the cold winter).

Any suggestions on which races to look into?  Any races I should avoid as a beginner?

Thank you

Tri The Parks - Tanner - great first race potential...nice swim, short bike and 5K.  Normally at the end of April.  Can't go wrong with this one as your first...swim is short enough that you do not need a WS

x2 on this recommendation.

After that, you could have plenty of time to train for Chattanooga if you wanted to step up to the Oly distance.

Thanks for the recommendation.  It looks like a good place to start.
