I am back in the pool these days learning how to swim again after a few years off. I don't have a swimming background and even when I did tri's I never spent too much time in the pool.

I'm now going a few times per week. After each session, I sneeze for 5-10 times and I sound stopped up all day. And not to be gross but my nose also seems to run while I am swimming.

Does anybody else deal with this? Is this from the chlorine or am I sucking too much water in my nose? Suggestions or thoughts?

This is actually not uncommon.  Swimming makes me sneeze, too (*pauses to wait for the "wait... you swim?" gasps of disbelief* ).  There's actually something called "swimmer's sinusitis", though there's definitely a difference between an irritation caused by pool chemicals and a true allergy to them.  Do you find that this happens regardless of in what pool you swim?  Sometimes the chemicals vary and can have more/less of an effect.  Some people use saline nasal spray prior to and after swimming and/or use a nose clip during.  I've also heard people say using a Neti Pot after swimming helps.

You probably need to learn to breathe correctly (my advice is schedule a lesson with Lisa Marshall). This used to happen to me also to the point that I quit doing flip turns because I would have water pour out of my nose later in the day (random water would just gush out...it was really gross). I used to get really bad sinus infections as a result. My Dr advised me to irrigate my sinuses after I swam (to get the pool water out) and then put me on Flonaise and it has worked wonders. Talk to your Dr if you continue to have problems with this.

I usually take Claritan daily.  Seems when I don't take it, pool sniffles are more of a problem.

However, since I have been swimming in DC, I haven't taking my Claritan and I also haven't got the pool sniffles.

Maybe it is the pool chemicals.

Another thing: when I was getting the sniffles a lot, I was swimming with Masters at LTF Alpharetta.  I don't think LTF Alpharetta is at the top of the pool game.  I only swim 2-3 times per month at LTF Johns Creek but I don't recall getting them that bad when I swim there either.
