I have been taking pictures of triathlons for a couple of years now, but I have a question. Which of these bike photo angles do you like best? Thanks.

Eric

I'm feeling the side shot. Like the look of the full bike and rider.

I agree with Aaron. I like it when they pan with the rider a bit and blur the backround. It really brings the rider and bike to the forfront and makes it standout more.

#2 if the triathlete is far enough into the course to be down into aero position.

Doesn't matter as long as I'm down in aero position, tho I'd prefer side so I can see my bike and my form. Don't take it at the start or end when I'm fiddling with my shoes or ready to dismount.

I agree with dalessit - offer a cheaper version (low res version) of the pics for web use, aka, blogs.

I like the first one better.

I hate nearly all of the photographs of me in races with one or two exceptions. I HATE pictures of myself on the bike. I look incredibly pathetic!

I like both angles. (why limit yourself to one?)

If you have control over your shutter speed and aperature on your camera, open up your aperature as much as possible to shrink the depth of field (blurs the background more, pops the foreground out). This will also allow you to increase the shutter speed for an even crisper shot.

Nice pictures!

Being greedy and selfish and wanting to see some perfect side shots so I can gauge my in-race position I'd prefer the full on side shot.  I'm always looking for one of those in my race shots but have only ever gotten at most a 45 degree shot.  Which was okay, but I prefer the full on side shot.

I agree.  As you can see there are varied opinions on the angle, but I'd love a real picture of myself on the bike a ways into the ride.  Every tri-shot I've ever had I'm fiddling or just getting started as keyone says.

Clearly, I understand the logistical challenge that presents.
