Subject: Mizuno Wave Rider II vs GT 2120

I love the Asics GT 2120. That being said, I hate the 2130. I have never gotten a blister from the 2120s but the switch to the 2130 has not been smooth. Something different with the toe box is rubbing me the wrong way, so on my next pair, I am looking for alternatives.

The cushioning and the stability of the GT2110s and then the 2120s have been perfect for me. No injuries, no problems. I am looking for something similar and have looked at the Mizuno Wave Rider IIs.

Has anyone tried both? How do they compare?

I have the Asics 2120 and went to the Mizuno Waves and did not like them. The are very stiff and heavy. I have gone back to Asics!

Thanks, that is what I was afraid of. I may have to try the Kayanos. Or keep looking for GT 2120s on ebay...

The Mizuno closest to the 21XX would be the Inspire as they are both "stability" shoes. Generally, Mizuno's are firmer than most, but they are not as firm as they used to be (since the Rider 9 timeframe). Mizunos are not heavy.

Best advice is to find a good running store (preferably with a treadmill) and try out many different brands. If you don't have any, narrow it down to a few shoes and order them from a place that has free return shipping (ie. http://www.runningwarehouse.com) and keep you favs.

Mizuno Wave Inspire 4 is what you are looking for if you have been running in 2120s. I have switched from Asics 1120 to Wave inspire 4. Wave inspire 4 is lighter at 11.1 oz and it does feel quicker. Forefoot cushioning is just as good as you will find on Asics 2120, however I think, not positive, Wave Inspire 4 has less stability. That is my subjective assesment. I love Mizunos and am not coming back to Asics. I did like Asics too, but like these more. I run with quicker cadence and Mizunos seem to encourage that with my gait. Mizunos also have a lower riding heel section compared to Asics 2120. No injuries, no pain with either shoe for me. I run about 45-50mi a week.
