LBS may sell me their demo 404s for a discounted price when they get their new demos in this fall. I figured they would be the same as ones you would buy (why demo something that's different than what you would buy?), but the Zipp decals all have the word "Demo" beneath the "Zipp." So it got me to wondering if they were any different (more sturdy, less expensive, etc.).

Just means they were used and abused like a rental car.  Still the same wheels when they were brand new, but with some extra miles on them after a year of demo use.

I think ZIPP offers 2 yr warantee on most of their wheels - so if you bought them as "demos" but from an authorized dealer, would they still be warranteed?

That might be the case.  Good question to ask the shop and Zipp.

Depends on the price and your budget. I doubt that the wheels were "abused." People most likely rented them for races, not daily riding.
