Pre-race routine:

Got up at 6:00 after a slightly busy night. I got dressed and muffin and muffin. Thought about a banana, didn't seem right. Got hte kids up and going. They did a good job, with little whining. Loaded van and Yoshi, friend Chad and Willie with his cousins (2) headed to event 40 minutes away.
Event warmup:

Stood in line to get number. Went to pee. Ran a short distance in parking lot. Hard out to get HR up a little. Stretched quads and hips. Situated the kids.

Comments:

Felt good. Out strong, still cna't muster a kick of any kind. Started in the back. I like to pass people. Picking your way through is fun.
What would you do differently?:

Tried to push a litttle early. Need to wait before pushing to hard.
Post race
Warm down:

Looked for the kids ti get the camera to take pictures of Yoshi. Of course nowhere around. Missed Chad coming about 30 seconds after me. They were hanging out in the van since it was starting toi rain. Got the camera out of bag and ran back to find Yoshi. Got a couple good shots. Drank gatorade and walked around. Loaded up after Yoshi was rested.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Wieght and lack of kick. Also got hot around 2.5 miles or so.

Event comments:

I need to apologize to Yoshi. I'm sorry. I took off and didn't wish her luck or good race or kiss her. She said it was OK to go out but, I should have gave her some encouragement before the race. She did great.

Nice fast race!  Sounds like you had fun.    You're very sweet to apologize online.  I bet you won't forget to wish her luck next time!

Hey, what about YOUR pre-race encouragement?

Just kidding, Yoshi.

Nice race! Sounded like a great family event for you all.
