Just wanted to see how the race went. Its on my "possible" race list next year and I would like to know what was good about the race and what was bad.

Something that you would do again?

Good question - I'm curious too.  Wondering if anyone even showed up - as I got an email on Thursday telling me I could register the day before the race, bring the email and save $50.

I didn't do the race, but I did a 5K once on a part of the running course and that is some serious frickin' hills!

I too am excited to hear about the race.. there was a great article in the Journal News Sports section.. talked about how Rich Izzo really worked hard to make his vision of a Westchester HIM come together ..

men's winner was Domminic Gillen from Westport CT. 4:14:25
women's winner was Christine Dunnery 4:57:47

there were 180 entrants this year .. organizers hope to get this race into the IRONMAN M.DOT series and it to grow organically to 1000 entrants in the next few years ..

thats all from the article..

ON THE SAME PAGE:

Westchester Tri article - lots of local people getting props

and

Yonkers Marathon and 1/2 marathon

men's winner was Derese Denoba - 2:27:35
women's winner - Hermela Romero 3:17:52

men' 1/2 winner - Elijah Kitur - 1:10:44
women's 1/2 winner - Muliye Gurmu 1:17:30

Why does everyone want to brand their race with m-dot? I hope it stays a local race and just grows because people like to train for and race 1/2 irons in this area. If it becomes m-dot expect the price to go up at least $50 + Active fees.

so it would go from $225 to $275 to register .. I am not feelin' that .. but hey it was cool to see a whole page in the sports section devoted to 2 tri's and a marathon festival - and all of it in Westchester County - not NYC ! kudos for us !

Matt,

We went up to the race & thought it was really nice. A guy on our Team placed 2nd o'all w/ a 4:22 on what was definitely not a fast course (his race report is posted here if you're curious).
I did not race, but did a training run on the run course & it was really beautiful (took this photo from the Croton Dam which you run across at roughly the mid-way pt):

I would definitely put it on your calendar if you're looking for a Sept 1/2 IM in '09.
