Can't say that I "know" her, but she and I had a banter going back and forth this year.
It started at Disco Tri when she was racked next to me, so she became my rack buddy.  I saw her at River Cities, and again at Iron Girl.  We have  been calling each other rack buddy all year.  I was surprised, and actually a little disappointed to not see her at TexasMan this weekend.  Marcy could tell you that I was looking for her prior to the swim start.

Thats a great success story.  I can't wait to see her again to congratulate her on this.

That's awesome! Good for her! I THINK my tri club was doing stuff to help her out (buying a GC to a grocery store, etc.), but I can't be sure that was her.

Otherwise, a lady who was going through chemo did a faster IM than I did (a healthy person!)... by over an hour.

I do ,, she a great lady.. She came to the center that I work at for her radiation treatments,  During her set up I was talking with her about tri's and my 30 min set up took well over an hour.

In fact there are 3 other patients here that have recently done IM's and two others that do sprint's and Oly's in the DFW area... It's to the point where I just to see when they are coming back so I can block off some extra time to talk with them

I used to work with Candy in Coppell. She is a great lady and she deserves all our prayers and admiration for her character. I only drink wine on the weekends, so next Saturday I'll toast to Candy and all she has done and continues to do.

"A crowd of family and friends screamed as she crossed the finish line in 14 hours and 23 minutes.

"God made that day for me," she says. "The water was smooth as glass and there weren't big winds while I was on the bike."

Two-and-a-half months later, she received the last of 33 radiation treatments. In May, on the one-year anniversary of the diagnosis, a mammogram revealed she was cancer-free. Sheehan already is eyeing a 2010 Ironman, and is working hard to regain her speed, which took a hit during her illness. "

Wow.

Yup.......and she is an amazing soul!

We helped her prepare for her IM and she was a never-ending source of inspiration to everyone around her.

I can't wait to see what she will do next year when she is healthy!
