Subject: do the anti-vibration thingy's in handlebars work ?
A friend who rides with us got some kind of vibration dampener placed in his handlebars.

Anyone have any experience or info in these ?

My lbs has bike for a tune-up and they said they will install a set for $ 15 total.

Just wondering if they're worth it.

I have Trek 1500 with carbon fork/seat post.

So, are you experiencing road vibration so badly that you need a solution, or is your LBS selling you something you don't need? If you're not sure if you need it, chances are: you don't need it.

I'm assuming you are talking about gel padding that is placed underneath the bar tape? Fizik makes some, as do others. 

Good cycling gloves work well, too.

yes, the vibration is kinda ruff sometimes, no I'm the one who brought it up to lbs.

I'm talking about something actually placed in the handlebars, if I'm not mistaken.

They're called "Buzz Kills" and are made by Bontrager. I haven't tried them, but am skeptical.

They do make a difference but it's not really noticeable if you already have a carbon fork. I had them installed when I had a cro-mo fork and they did make a difference but now that I have a carbon fork, the difference is negligible.

I've got them on my 2100 Trek...they came stock on my handlebars. I still get LOTS of vibration in my bars. Seeing as I've not ridden a bike without them, I can't really say if they're worth it or not....just that even with the Buzz Kills, I get vibration. I recently bought a pair of Ironman Elite T2 cycling gloves, and while they were pricey ($41), they DO seem to be helping with the severe hand numbness that I was experiencing.
