Subject: How fast will IMKY fill up?
I want to do either IMFL or IMKY in 2009. Obviously, I can't sign up for IMFL until November 1. What does everyone think about the availability of IMKY in November? Will there be spots left?
Any help!!!

I don't think there is any way to tell.  I've read many are holding out until after IM FL, but nothing is guaranteed. 

Maybe someone can post how many are registered at this point- not sure where to find that info...

First year it sold out in about 2-3 weeks.  2nd year it sold out in 3-4 weeks. 

Extrapolating from those two data points, then taking the inverse hyperbolic tangent of the 3-sigma standard deviation divided by the non-dimensionalized engineering smoothing factor 4.221, I estimate somewhere between 4 weeks and Nov 2.

Seriously, the best thing to do is email the RD and ask them how many slots are still open.  When you find out, let us know.

As of 9/15 they had about 500 slots available according to the athlete service coordinator.

I don't understand how this race doesn't fill up quickly.  It was such an awesome experience.  I haven't heard anybody say much to the contrary, either.  Maybe it's the scary-hot weather that keeps people from plunking down the best $500 you can spend!
