Subject: Garmin Edge for running?
I was just wondering if anyone had a good idea for using the edge 705 for running, other than the obvious (carry it like you are holding a brick). I can't seem to figure out a good way to rig up a makeshift wristband for it. If anyone has been successful please share your secret!

I had that idea once, I just put in my sports bra in a baggie. It worked, ran 5 miles with it.

Good luck

Does that mean I have to start running in sports bras?

I wonder if it would fit into an mp3 player style armband. It would be out of the way on your upper arm.

I used to run with my Edge 305 until I sold it for a FR305, but I went to walmart and bought an mp3 player arm band.  It worked great, had a clear front to see the screen or change the screen, etc.

The only thing the 305 didn't do and I don't know about the 705 doing this, but it didn't calculate pace.  It would do speed and distance, but not the mile/min calculation on the screen.  I always had manually figure it when I uploaded the data to SportTracks.

I have an MP3 armband that works fine with my Edge 305 wile running.  Sometimes I just carry it like a baton while running so I can check my HR and pace (ave speed in mph).  Download your workout to Garmin Training Center software (on your PC or Mac) and pace in min/mi is shown for laps & full workout.  As mainly a cyclist at heart I still like the Edge over the Forerunner series.
