So during a sprint tri this weekend I decided I was goint to try and cut some time off T2.  Well, I had practiced removing my shoes while on the bike and going barefoot throughout the race.

During the last part of the bike, I peeled my feet out of my shoes and rode with my feet on top for the last little bit.  I was feeling good about this!  I reached the dismount line and hopped off my bike.  I run to my spot on the rack and put my bike up.  I slide on my run shoes, grab my #belt, and take off.  I exit transition and when I reach up to adjust my sunglasses I realize my helmet straps are in the way.  Darn it!  Things were going so well!  I took my helmet off and ran back towards transition and chucked it in the general area, hoping it would still be there when I finished.

I finished the race and my helmet was still there.  Lesson learned.  When shaving time...don't forget the little things.

Thanks for the heads up!  Laughing  I've been practicing getting out of my shoes on the bike and I think I am gonna give it a go for my race this weekend.  I'll be sure to remember the helmet now.  Wink

Cool.  I practice the shoe thing for my last race.  I to forgot my helmet during practice, so for the race I put a note on my stuff reminding me to take my helmet off and not to for get my garmin on my bike.

Here is something that worked for me. It's not for everyone, but I liked it.  I put my garmin wrist strap, hat, gu, race belt, and running glasses in a zip lock bag (with the note on the bag).  I put on my shoes grabbed the bag and ran out.  I put everything on while I was running.

For my first race my T2 time was 5 min.  did a complete wardrobe change. haha

You should have just done the run with the bike helmet on.  Its what all the cool kids are doing.

Gotta admit did the same thing in practice a couple of days ago.
Set up a T2 near the local School track. Came in hot Feet out of toe cages, quick hydrate and began to run around track, hlafway around first lap and realized I had left helmet on.
Thank God no one was there to witness this (At least I am pretty sure no one did, I didn't hear any giggling)

Put the running hat on top of the running shoes, this causes me to have that "DOH!" moment right there in T2
